Still Waiting for Sarah
The American Spectator ^ | 8/22/2011 | Robert Stacy McCain

Posted on 08/22/2011 4:05:38 AM PDT by BfloGuy

By Tuesday evening, then, I was half-convinced that Palin was stealthily moving toward an announcement. Then on Friday, she released a two-minute online video about her Iowa trip that everyone -- even the wizards who had previously been certain she wasn't running -- agreed looked like an honest-to-goodness campaign ad. The signals seemed clear enough that Karl Rove (who is clearly no Palin fanboy) declared she now "looks like a candidate, not a celebrity" and expressed his belief that Palin will get into the race. But if a certified Beltway elitist like Rove is now convinced she's running, wouldn't Palin be obliged to prove him wrong by not running? So I called up McCormick to ask if she believed that an announcement was in the works for the September 3 "Restoring America" rally, and the Iowa for Palin volunteer wasn't sure. "People think if [Palin's speech] doesn't say, 'Hi, I'm Sarah Palin, I'm running for president,' it will be not a good deal. But I really think she's going to give a monster speech."

The only two people who really know what Palin is planning, McCormick said, are Sarah and Todd. The rest of us will just have to wait until she announces. But her Iowa organizers are still convinced Palin is getting in -- a matter of "when," not "if," they say. Others may doubt, but the True Believers still believe.

First, I was for Cain, but then he didn't even know what the "right of return" was and I thought maybe he's not been paying enough attention to what's going on in the world. I really liked Bachmann. But she went and signed one of those silly pledges that promises to end all sorts of things that the president has no power to end.

Perry impressed me very much with his announcement speech and I liked his unabashed cheerleading for America -- something I haven't heard in years. Unfortunately, now he's spouting the lame "Tenth Amendment defense" to justify his DREAM Act and he sounds just like Romney.

So, I guess, I'm waiting for Sarah, too.

When Sarah Palin steps in she’s going to steal the thunder from all the candidates. Hopefully Ron Paul will drop out he’s a waste of valuable time. It would be nice to see Romney drop out too but I think he’ll hold on hoping the media will pull a miracle for him like they did McCain in 2008.

I’m sticking with Bachmann for now. The 3rd will be the do or die date for Palin.

Perry, just another manipulative RINO who seems to be employing Obama style tactics.

Perry will be there to the end.

Romney only hope is that Palin and Perry split the conservative vote and he able to steal the nomination.

A very real possibility.

My guess? He runs as an Indy and actually attracts more leftist loons vs. disaffected conservatives and or libertarians.

He actually helps Sarah, not hurts her. I am beginning to understand Mark Levin's assessment of Mr. Paul, yes I am in agreement with him, he is not the guy for these times..

Impatience, restlessness, fingerpointing, and an attitude of hurry-up, you, why-don’t-you-do-what-I-want-on-my-schedule, are indicators of liberal tendencies.

Ron Paul won't drop out because it's all about his ego.....when a candidate finishes a close second and then still polls in single digits one realizes a lot of ballot stuffing went on...although he has some good ideas he is not a will not be a serious contender.IMHO

This is essentially Paul’s last hurrah, imo. He’s not running for election to Congress thus he’ll hang until the last much like he did last time. He’s got money to spend and my guess is that’s what he’ll do. He’ll not be a factor in the Primary nor General should he elect to go as a 3rd Party type.

Maybe he could replace the perpetual candidate Keyes in whatever Party that Keyes is milking now.

Same can be said for the establishment republicans....all this talk of Ryan and Christie is the establishment fear of a true conservative getting the nod....Karl Rove never misses an opportunity to lash out at conservatives.

“when a candidate finishes a close second and then still polls in single digits one realizes a lot of ballot stuffing went on”

That’s not fair to Ron Paul. He has an intense, loyal following, albeit not huge. In a straw poll, such a candidate can do well by out-organizing the opposition. He did well in relative terms, but in absolute terms, his votes were only 27% of the total. This narrow but deep support would make him a disaster as the Republican standard bearer. There’s just too many of his ideologically pure positions that don’t square with the general voter’s view of the world.

Mrs. Palin is remaining relatively quiet…..she is waiting....she (and only she) knows her battle plan....she knows her timing.....she is learning....studying the opposition....guarding the "cubs"....waiting quietly with occasional "roars" (like the Iowa State Fair).....reconnoitering the challengers from within and the enemies from without.....studying their weaknesses....building and conserving her own strength....endlessly practicing....reading...honing her skills.....waiting.....waiting…

This war has not yet begun. What has been seen of the other candidates to date has been nothing but minor and irrelevant skirmishing. Candidates in...candidates out....candidates winning....candidates losing.....candidates saying silly things.....candidates saying cogent, insightful things.....candidates being personally attacked by the msm (including fox) and the intelligencia...the msm in a spin trying to attack all the candidates all the time.....or trying to ignore them....and there are some candidates being hailed as the "stain eradicator".....

It is a very, very long way to November, 2012. There is no need to rush. In her mind's eye, Mrs. Palin smiles knowingly and remembers the words of Napolean, "Never interupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." and General Patton, "Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like crap through a goose; like shit through a tin horn!"

When she arrives, you can count on total war. She has learned how to fight. She has been through this before....all the way to election day. She does not spin; she does not back away from principles; she means exactly what she says...and says exactly what she means. She builds a base of support because of who and what she is....not because of who or what she panders to.

Patience.....patience....

Wait for it!

And keep the faith....

Governor, soon to be President )my words to God’s ears)Palin operates on her own schedule. While others are playing checkers, she plays 3-D chess.

Until she decides to run, all we can do is prepare. Prepare for the onslaught; prepare to win; prepare to repair America - but, by all means necessary, prepare. She is going to need lots of help.

What are you talking about , my post makes the same point you do...he has a loyal following that consistently skews the polls in his favor making him seem much more relevant than he actually is!!!

She is going to need lots of help.

Sure she is! All leaders do; both the good ones and the bad ones. What would Hitler have done if his movement of the National Socialist German Workers Party had failed? General Patton was (argueably) the greatest fighting general of WWII, but what would he have done without the men of 3rd Army? Hell, Napolean - at least for a time - made the French soldier a winner...but he had to have the soldiers following!

So it will be with Mrs. Palin. She asks much of us; she pulls no punches. She declares that the battles yet to be fought are going to be of long duration, and very very difficult. She asks us to stand with her and lets us know she will not let us down.

I prefer to believe that her run for the office began in March of 2011, on a cold, windy, sleet filled day, when during her speech to us she looked straight ahead - almost looking into his eyes - and declared, "Mr. President - GAME ON!"

So....we wait for the official announcement. She knows when, and if; we train and get ready. It is that way with all warfare and all warriors.

“So, I guess, I’m waiting for Sarah, too.”

No candidate knows everything, no candidate can please everyone, no candidate is constantly on guard to the point that they don’t make any mistakes and/or misstatements along the way.

So given the reasons you stated for no longer supporting Cain and Bachmann, where will you turn when Sarah says/does something you don’t agree with, or when she doesn’t know something you think she should?

Ponder on it and get it out of the way because it’s bound to happen during a long campaign where soundbites and missteps can make or break.
