RUSH: Here's TheHill.com. "Obama to Automakers." This is interesting. "The country’s automakers should ditch their focus on SUVs and trucks in favor of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, President Obama said Monday."
President Obama, who, as we all know, has had vast experience as the owner of an automobile company, a man who's worked the assembly line, he's worked the showroom floor, he's been in the design control center, he knows everything there is about the automobile business.
Obama said during a town hall forum in Cannon Falls, Minn, "You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks. There is a place for SUVs and trucks, but as gas prices keep on going up, you have got to understand the market. People are going to try to save money.'"
So the man who is bankrupting the country, who is bankrupting business after business after business, said, , "You can’t just make money on SUVs and trucks. You've gotta understand the market."
This has gotta be the most painful joke in the history of the world. Cookie, is this on tape? Do I have this on the sound bite roster? Just flash me a yes or no and if I do I'll find it during the break. Okay, we don't have it. I bet it's not on tape.
I bet if it was on tape, the tape's been erased, it's been expunged, it's been degaussed, it's been burned.

The owner of two new hearses, don't call 'em buses, those are hearses. The guy who flies around on Air Force One. The CEO of the Grim Reaper Bus Company made those buses, said you've just gotta understand the market.
His favorite solar panel company just filed for bankruptcy. And then there's his favorite car that he's never driven, 125 Chevrolet Volts sold last month. You have to understand the market. Barack Obama saying we have to understand the market.

That's what they're making money on! That is precisely what they're making money on. "You gotta understand the market."
This is a joke. (laughing) Barack Obama telling anybody, "You gotta understand the market"? I can't believe the regime didn't do something about the tape.
Everyday half the vehicles you see are trucks and SUV's, or are we being told gas prices are going to keep on goin' up?

My Auto Engineering "gnome" and I have had this conversation.
We are building people movers, not family movers. You can't go on vacation with 3 or 4 kids because of the lack of trunk space. Small trailer or roof top career are need to carry all the stuff. Now their goes your "Aero".
They are doing it to keep the weight down and Mpg's up ergo the new "Chevy Cruze" with no spare tire to save weight.
This Stupidity has got to change...

In honor of Obama’s comment I bought my first SUV this week.
It’s wonderful. I love the feeling of sitting up high. I am able to sit much farther back from the steering wheel, and after an accident where my arms and hands were broken from the airbags I think it’s great.
An SUV is a great thing. The heck with Obama.
We just retired my 1996 Suburban for a new Lincoln Navigator L. No small electric car for us. We live so far in the country it is 20 miles to the grocery store.

Honda and Toyota and Nissan have built what people wanted to buy for years. GM also built what people wanted to buy for years, but they did a crappy job at it, and should have been allowed to go bankrupt -- that's the real story here. Obama shouldn't have bailed out GM, but he's a socialist with a side of corporatism, so he really can't help himself. The idea of appearing business friendly while simultaneously nationalizing two domestic automakers was too much for him to resist.
I kind of suspected that when he talked about reducing imported oil by inflating tires and getting regular tune-ups during his 2008 campaign.
