A Palin Announcement on September 3rd Looks More Likely
Big Government ^ | Sunday August 21, 2011 | Natalie Nichols

Posted on 08/21/2011 11:51:59 AM PDT by Bigtigermike

If the Republican Presidential race were a poker game, you could say that Palin, the underdog has remained in late position long enough to see the full ring, to expose the live ones. She’s learned their tells, and she’s seen some bust, but now it’s time for her to go all in with what looks to be a royal flush.

If you’re not a poker player, you may need a poker dictionary to decipher my analogy. And “they” think she doesn’t know how the game of politics is played. The good old boys just never realized that she wasn’t playing by their rules.

If, or rather when, Sarah Palin announces her candidacy for President; Republican polls will likely shift in her favor.

[...]

It’s looking more and more these days as if Sarah Palin will announce her run for the White House in short order. If you keep up with Palin’s history, you may come to the conclusion that there is no accident in her decision to go to Iowa September 3rd for what many believe will be her big announcement. September 3, 2011 is three years, to the day, that Sarah Palin accepted the nomination for Vice President and gave her famously rousing speech during the Republican National Convention.

[..]

72% of likely Republican voters say when casting their primary vote, they favor a candidate who shares their views over one who has a better chance of winning.

That turns the notion of people agreeing with Sarah Palin, but “don’t think she can win” from a negative, into a potential strength. They are going to vote for her regardless, thus, breaking the mold of the typical voter.

You were told then that Palin had chosen NOT to be involved in the straw poll and indicated that to her supporters

Oh so CGG was already told that - interesting.

TYVM! I wasn’t aware of that. I only knew that she wasn’t campaigning and she made that very clear!

Here is a quote by Singleton: "“We’re not pushing people at all to write in Sarah Palin’s name,” he told me. “We support the Straw Poll, and encourage everyone to attend because it’s a great event for the Republican Party here in Iowa. If people want to write in her name, of course we appreciate their doing so, but we’re not doing any push for votes in the Straw Poll, in any way. Nothing–we are not even sending an email out to our mailing list in the state encouraging people to do so. We are simply not focused on this."

They did not say to NOT write in her name, and as a matter of fact, Singleton says they would appreciate it. I had posted this before.

In reality, Pres. Bush did try to open a serious dialogue and raise some prospect of an initial reasonable immigration policy debate in 2006, but he had an obstreporous Dim congress who fought him thereafter until the end of his term on just about everything, as well as Pubbies who caught the BDS virus and were looking toward their next election after just having lost the majority.

And now — low and behold — we have what the Dims and Obama wanted all along: Dream Act under another name by
imperial, unconstitutional fiat.

~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
1. A major new investment in border security, including doubling the Border Patrol by the end of 2008 and temporarily deploy 6000 National Guard troops
2. The temporary worker program, which would include a tamper-proof identification card
3. Stricter immigration enforcement at businesses, which would reduce exploitation and help slow demand for illegal workers
4. Promote assimilation by requiring immigrants to learn English
5. What to do with the approximately twelve million illegal immigrants in the country? [I outlined] a rational middle ground between granting an automatic path to citizenship for every illegal immigrant and a program of mass deportation.
Source: Decision Points, by Pres. George W. Bush, p.303-304 Nov 9, 2010
Ended “catch-and-release” policy
Bush ended “catch and release,” the practice of picking up illegal aliens from countries other than Mexico and then releasing them on their own recognizance until their deportation hearing, for which most never showed.
Bush thought it encouraged contempt for law. So he expanded the facilities to hold these illegals until deportation hearings. In 2000, it took nearly a hundred days on average to process someone out of the country. When Bush left office, it took less than twenty.
I will forever hold him in the highest esteem, with my undying gratitude, respect and affection for his undeniable and obvious love of America, for being relentless in pursuing our safety after 9/11 (successfully against all odds), for his indefatigable support and promotion of the sanctity of all human life, and his unabashed profound respect, honor and devotion for our incredible military, among other things.
Perfection? Of course not, none on earth can be. And what
I wouldn’t give to have him at 1600 Pennsylvania right now.
God bless and protect him forever.
Just try to get Palin elected without Republicans!!
Just try to keep the House and win the Senate and the White House without conservatives!
Just try to beat Obama with anyone but Sarah Palin!
If you really are a conservative great grandma that means you have a posterity.
No one will fight harder for your posterity than Sarah Palin.
Now stop being a one trick pony. We've seen the trick, are not impressed and it's getting old.
Wow. The scariest part of your entire novel is that you might actually believe this. Remarkable.
Take a look at how fast attitudes change. Support for gay "marriage" has gone from near zero to near 50% in just a few years. How long did it take from the first sign of German instability to the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification? How long from the attempted coup against Gorbachev, when no one predicted a threat to Soviet unity, to the dissolution of the Soviet Union? How long from the first frictions with King George III to the Declaration of Independence or from the Pearl Harbor attack by Japan to enthusiastic support for a war against Germany? How long for the Transcontinental Railroad to change our economy? My "novel" is far too detailed for an FR post, but think about it: what do you think would have happened if southern slavery had encountered Adam Smith's invisible hand from the wrong side of the economic balance?
So, it wasn't really difficult to gin up enthusiastic support for a war on Germany.
Do you read polls? They are not good for Palin.
I read polls, lots of them every day. They are actually quite fluid on Palin, neither positive nor negative beyond the tilt imposed by question wording. Once she announces, we'll see what her support is like, particularly after she does some campaigning and people listen to her. For now, the polls on her are essentially harmless to moderately positive. She will have an audience when she announces, a BIG audience. Whether she will get their votes depends on what she says in her speeches and other announcements.
Some years back I knew several of his descendants in Edgefield County SC, and Nathan Bedfford is still a revered hero there.
It's nice to hear that. He was one of our great men, flawed (as all of us are) but great.
Conservatives are not control freaks that tell others what to do, they, merely, suggest. It's obvious it was NOT their focus. They couldn't have been more clear. She wasn't there to take votes from others - she was there because people wanted to see/meet her and that was VERY obvious - voters were thrilled. So sit back and relax.
I've never met a great grandmother who is so hysterical over nothing - time brings them wisdom and discernment. You sound like a kid and it's your first time voting.
“Once Palin jumps in officially, the rest of the field will have to look at their internal polling data, and recognize her strength, and back out.”
You may be right - or not. Time will tell.
oh, Star, Jimmy is more a FUN nutjob! And, apparently, he is running for the R nomination unlike the loathsome Mr. Braun. Showed up at CPAC even. Too funny. I’m seriously thinking of putting “Jimmy McMillan ‘12” as my tagline. Why not? A little something to tick off everyone! The temp around here is getting to be more than I can handle.
