9/11: al-Qaeda didn’t act alone

On September 11, bereaved family members will mark the 10th anniversary of the cataclysmic terrorist attacks on American cities. They will gather around the pools of remembrance at the newly opened memorial, where the names of the 2,982 known victims who died on the day and in the earlier bombing of 1993 are engraved on parapets of bronze. President Obama and his predecessor, George W Bush will be on hand.

Two official inquiries have investigated the who, the how, and the why of 9/11. A decade on, however, many questions remain. Osama bin Laden and his terrorist cohort plotted and executed the operation, but did they act alone? Only days after the onslaught, President Bush's defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, said the terrorists "live and work and function and are fostered and encouraged, if not just tolerated, by a series of countries… I know a lot… It's a sensitive matter."

In the months that followed, President Bush and Vice President Cheney – especially Cheney – insinuated publicly that Iraq had been involved in 9/11. Polls showed that by 2003, when the US invaded Iraq, millions of Americans had come to believe that was the case. The US 9/11 Commission, however, would conclude that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks.

Rumsfeld's other suspects after 9/11 had included Libya, Sudan and Iran, all countries associated with terrorism. No evidence was to emerge pointing to Libya or Sudan, though bin Laden was long based in Khartoum. Iran is another story.

On that fateful morning I was in the MD suburbs of DC when a phone call alerted me to the first tower strike. I turned the TV on and continued talking on the phone. Having lived in NYC for a few decades my focus was there so I don’t directly recall when the news reports of an explosion at the State department happened. That report alternated cutting back and forth with NYC. When they later denied any explosion at State it struck me as very odd as no explanation followed. It was quickly overtaken by the news of evacuations of the White House, Capitol, and IIRC the Supreme Court. DC stations spent a fair amount of time downplaying reports of the Pentagon attack. Alleged and can’t confirm phrases predominated no doubt adding to the later leftist fantasy.

In any case, it turns out that there was no explosion at State, which in the posted photo would be out of frame at top right not too far past the White House.

IIRC it turned out to be just a coincidence.

What wasn't a coincidence was the fact the dems and their leftest allies had their talking points in place before the attack.

How convenient for the dems to come up with an orchestrated news story before 9/11, Bush stole the election, that meshed right in with their talking points after 9/11, “First Bush steals the election then he allowed 9/11, he's becoming a dictator”.

Let's not forget the 9/11 attack was first and foremost an attack against the economy. The objective of the 9/11 attack was to completely destroy the US economy and by UBL’s own account have Bush removed from office or at least not be reelected.

Bush inherited a recession from Clinton. A large part of the cause of that recession was the Oil for Food Program and the smuggling of Iraqi oil being used to manipulate the price of oil and the world economy. It was an orchestrated recession. The MSM was silent about it until after Bush took office then began claiming it was Bush's recession, that Bush had intentionally caused the recession.

OOOPS! Dems talking points before the attack fit the conditions after the attack. Let us also not forget the Clinton's had what was refereed to as a 20 year plan. BC would serve as president for 8 years, there would be a one term president for 4 years, then HC would serve as president for 8 years. Not only did the Clinton's have to come up with a plan to make sure Gore didn't get elected, they had to come up with a plan to bring down a sitting president. You've got both. Not only was it the Clinton's that started the nonsense that Bush stole the election, it was Hillary that gave the "Bush Knew" crowd credibility by holding up the newspaper claiming BUS KNEW!
