9/11: al-Qaeda didn’t act alone
The Telegraph ^ | August 20, 2011 | Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan

Posted on 08/20/2011 1:43:17 PM PDT by Kaslin

For their new book, 'The Eleventh Day’, Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan trawled through thousands of documents, piecing together a definitive account of the attacks.

On September 11, bereaved family members will mark the 10th anniversary of the cataclysmic terrorist attacks on American cities. They will gather around the pools of remembrance at the newly opened memorial, where the names of the 2,982 known victims who died on the day and in the earlier bombing of 1993 are engraved on parapets of bronze. President Obama and his predecessor, George W Bush will be on hand.

Two official inquiries have investigated the who, the how, and the why of 9/11. A decade on, however, many questions remain. Osama bin Laden and his terrorist cohort plotted and executed the operation, but did they act alone? Only days after the onslaught, President Bush's defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, said the terrorists "live and work and function and are fostered and encouraged, if not just tolerated, by a series of countries… I know a lot… It's a sensitive matter."

In the months that followed, President Bush and Vice President Cheney – especially Cheney – insinuated publicly that Iraq had been involved in 9/11. Polls showed that by 2003, when the US invaded Iraq, millions of Americans had come to believe that was the case. The US 9/11 Commission, however, would conclude that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks.

Rumsfeld's other suspects after 9/11 had included Libya, Sudan and Iran, all countries associated with terrorism. No evidence was to emerge pointing to Libya or Sudan, though bin Laden was long based in Khartoum. Iran is another story.

If that’s true, I wonder if the suppressed information has been revealed to Hussein 0bama, and if so, what he’s doing with it.

Sure... and that’s why Sandy stole documents.

That’s why the 9/11 Comm. was sabotaged by the two Z’s, Gorelick, Ben Veniste and other hacks; Because the Clinton administration knew, but money was rolling in.

I can take you to a mosque where if the top terror imam flew in, he would speak at, while knowingly whip up with terror talk, no chaser or cover. This would be the same mosque as the killer of the Jewish students on the Bklyn Bridge and the killer of Kahane went to.

And yes, Iraq was involved as well as Iran.

What amazes me is that there are still people who think WTC7 was intentionally brought down.

It isn't that difficult to read how much structural damage was done to WTC7 when WTC1 fell (about 25 stories worth of damage, if memory serves me correctly) or that WTC7 contained a large amount of fuel for running an emergency center 22 stories up (bad, bad idea) and that this fuel burned for hours.

Hot steel fails.

It wasn’t an attack against the economy but at the same time the attack against the WTC was an attack against the economy.

OK!

Now you’re making a whole lot of sense.

It wasn’t JUST (only, merely, solely, exclusively) an attack on out economy.

It was ALSO (in addition to, plus, including) an attempted decapitation attack on our military and civil leadership.

PLUS whatever additional infrastructure mayhem the teams that didn’t get a chance to play intended.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Don't forget The Bent One also climbed into bed with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) which was allied with al Quaida.

IIRC Danny Pearl was looking into the connection between the KLA, al Quaida, and Clinton when he got his head cut off.

I didn't say it wasn't an attack against the other targets, you're the one that said it wasn't an attack against the economy.

I hope that clarifies it for you.

Bush the first started the Iraq war. It still has not been finished. I don’t recall Bush II ever implying that Iraq was behind the 9/11. We RESUMED the war in Iraq, because Saddam refuse to disclose what happened to the UN documented chemical and biological weapons. That was all that we asked that he do. He refused thinking we were bluffing and that his allies would prevent the US from carrying out what we said we would do.

Looking back, I could have been clearer in my original post than the phrase “was much broader”.

I hope that clarifies the whole mess...

There there are the multiple reports of small groups of swarthy men simply walking away from their grounded flights that day.

I was on Free Republic that day. There were eye witness freepers reporting smoky trash barrels along the Mall, apparently heading toward the Capital. I have a relative who was in Foggy Bottom that morning very near the State Department. There was at least one explosion there.

Several decades from now, if someone ever gets around to writing an honest historical account of the last 20+ years in U.S. foreign policy, we're going to find out that the U.S. was on the wrong side in the first Gulf War.

Salman Pak, but the liberals and nay sayers said “OH SADDAM HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT”. And why was Abul Nidal killed right when the Americans invaded. He was the master of High Jackings. He knew something and the Iraqies wanted it shushed...

Yeah, I was here too. Too bad the ability to trace back one’s comments drops dead on Oct 11, 2001...
