Obama's use of Air Force One 150 miles away to Virginia and to drive through small towns with huge caravans in attendance is a cultural thang. You can see its roots in the pimpmobiles of the 1960's and 70's.

LBJ polled at 43% in 1967-68, and so, chose not to run. Although this rings a familiar bell, now, we should not assume that BO will also choose not to run- his ego is far bigger than, even, LBJ’s.
