One of Texas Gov. Rick Perry's biggest alleged weaknesses in the Republican presidential primary is his less-than-draconian record on immigration. Although Perry has talked a lot about cracking down on undocumented immigrants, he has done little to change Texas' status as a "sanctuary state" and, indeed, he's explicitly rejected the idea of implementing Arizona-style immigration reform. The reason for this is pretty simple: Texas' economic "miracle" is built on on a continued influx of people, as well as a preponderance of low-wage jobs, especially in the housing sector.

Texas’ economic “miracle” is built on on a continued influx of people,*******
If that’s the case, why isn’t the illegal influx creating boom times for California?
Because it’s utter and complete bull squat?
The Associated Press gets in on the act as well.
Far right questions Rick Perry on immigration
Why just California? How about 7/8 of the entire nation?
Thank goodness we have conservatives who are actively working to supress American wages with a second Obama term. That's the kind of electoral pragmatism this country needs
I wouldn’t expect a lot on the way of moral courage from the Perry Cheerleaders.
Really you mean there are no other MORE CONSERVATIVE candidates running for President?!
Ohhh noeessss!!!
From an earlier thread;
-Richard Fisher, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas said on Wednesday that Texas has in fact created good paying jobs.
these jobs are not low-paying jobs. The average weekly wage in the education and health services sector is $790; in the professional and business services sector it is $1,117; and in the mining sector, the average weekly wage is $2,271. Together these three sectors account for 68 percent of the jobs that have been created in Texas in the past two years, Fisher said-

The hard data completely explodes the above myth
The analysis is compiled by someone who doesn't support Perry.
I guess mittens is no longer the lamestream medias darling.
So far I’ve found their willing disconnect from reality to be quite amusing. But I live in Los Angeles so I’m used to it.
Aside from the snide remarks in this Liberal Rag article... oddly enough I find is fairly accurate.. Perry - for 10 years has TALKED - TALKED - TALKED and Postured on nearly every aspect of controlling Illegal Aliens and securing the border - and has DONE next to nothing. I have a number of Hispanic friends on my Facebook page who are outraged that many Republican Presidential candidates totally believe that the vast majority of Hispanic/Latinos are in direct support of illegal immigration and vis a vie Illegal Aliens. But Establishment Republicans and converted Democrats like Perry are not going to listen to Conservative Americans - whether they are White or Black or of the ethnic origins of Hispanic / Latino. That’s just the FACTS Jack...
I tried to be clear above that this chart doesn't account for the fluid nature of an economy with immigration and departures of hundreds of thousands of people, but I don't want to leave anyone with the wrong impression. So here it is: This chart doesn't account for the fluid nature of an economy with immigrations and departures of hundreds of thousands of people. The point of this chart is not to say "Texas should have 2.3% unemployment if only things were fair." Instead, it is an attempt to chart job growth in such a way that controls for people leaving one job market to enter another. To say "Wisconsin has a better job market than Texas because its unemployment rate is 0.6% lower" is a wholly untrue statement even though it cites accurate numbers. What this chart is meant to do is not posit a counter-factual, but to give a visual representation of the employment reality that is obscured by the way we calculate unemployment numbers.
So apparently there is NO myth busting going on there. since it wasn't even a factor in his own estimates...
Texas became the first state to pass an in-state tuition law for illegals

If this isnt enough, there are about 1000 anchor babies per month being churned out at Dallas Parkland Hospital...That is just one hospital in Texas, every month.
In Parkland Memorial Hospital Dallas, the second busiest maternity ward in the United States, 70% of the women giving birth were illegal aliens.
That added up to 11,200 babies for which Medicaid kicked in 34.5 million dollars to deliver these babies, the feds another 9.5 million and Dallas taxpayers tossed in 31.3 million. The average illegal patient is 25 years and giving birth to her second anchor baby.

Rick Perry's Texas jobs boom: The whole story
Texas leads the nation in minimum-wage jobs, and many positions don't offer health benefits. Also, steep budget cuts are expected to result in the loss of more than 100,000 jobs.
Many of the positions that have been created are on the lower end of the pay scale. Some 550,000 workers last year were paid at or below the federal minimum wage of $7.25, more than double the number making those wages in 2008, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That's 9.5% of the Texas workforce, which gives it the highest percentage of minimum-wage workers in the nation -- a dubious title it shares with Mississippi.
Perry signed a budget in May that slashes $15 billion in government spending over the next two years. Also, the federal stimulus funds that poured into the state since 2009 have largely dried up The state budget cuts alone could result in the loss of more than 100,000 jobs, many of them in the public sector
Seen all this before.
Those that question a candidates leftists liberal policies, will be labeled a liberal themselves..
In a country gone mad...
...as well as a preponderance of low-wage jobs, especially in the housing sector.
It's the "McJobs" (a term we haven't heard since Maobama took office) myth that the data at the link destroys. From the analysis:
But the implication here is that the new jobs in Texas, the jobs that Texas seems to stand alone in creating at such a remarkable pace, are low paying jobs and don't really count.
If this were true, all these new low-paying jobs should be dragging down the wages data, right? But if we look at the wages data since the beginning of the recession...
And it turns out that the opposite is true. Since the recession started hourly wages in Texas have increased at a 6th fastest pace in the nation.
As a side note, the only blue state that has faster growing wages is Hawaii.
It won’t do any good to run a more conservative candidate if they can’t beat Obama.
With the way Obama is going a paper bag will be able to beat him by this time next year.
Paulturds seem to hang out at the far left websites and mags. Guess that just goes along with the “larry flint” ad you all are running and the big bucks filtering in from Russia and support from soros to the little “so far right, he’s coming around the left” weasel.
What next?? links to DU? or DNC?
Ronpaul supporters should very proud.
