Obama accuses Congress of holding back recovery Photo 6:04am EDT

VINEYARD HAVEN, Massachusetts (Reuters) - A vacationing President Barack Obama accused Congress on Saturday of holding back the U.S. economic recovery by blocking "common sense" measures he said would create jobs and help growth.
In remarks recorded on Wednesday on his campaign-style bus tour in Illinois and aired during his holiday in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, Obama said the stalled construction, trade and payroll tax bills could give a boost to the economy.
"The only thing preventing us from passing these bills is the refusal by some in Congress to put country ahead of party. That's the problem right now. That's what's holding this country back," the president said in his weekly radio address, which is also transmitted on the Internet.

Get rid of the 600 regulations placed in foce since his Inauguration and the country will come back fine.
(1) The short attention span and poor memory of the populace.
(2) Public school education, which ensures the voters have little knowledge of history, civics and economics.
(3) A complicit mainstream media which works tirelessly to distort reality and frame issues to favor the liberals (while suppressing conservative views).
(4) The growing selfishness of those who rely on government for their existence.
Which Congress is he referring to? The one he had from Jan. 2009 to Jan 2011, or the some other one?
Blutarski, you’ve encapsulated a non-violent Marxist revolution into a neat little pill for the FedGuv to hand out to the populace.
Those of us who “cheek” the pill and spit it out later are the only ones wise enough to see the canard they’re trying to pull.
Sadly, I fear that when revolution does come, we will be outnumbered by addled masses. I pray that our marksmanship is better than theirs.
Normally this is done by the head of the opposition party but that's what the primary process is about, to identify that person. Until a nominee is selected or it becomes very clear who the nominee will be, the field is open for an ambitious candidate. A clever secondary level Republican presidential hopeful would take up that role himself and respond daily to the President hoping to get national publicity. It looked as though Gov. Perry might be taking that job and even Mitt Romney has begun to emerge from his hibernation to take on the president.
Perry's early success in the polls coupled with his jabs at Obama suggests that this might well be a productive avenue along which a candidate could advance his cause. Since Perry and Romney are the consensus front-runners at this point, they may wish to play it conservatively and that would open the opportunity for a Bachmann or a Cain. Gingrich is a natural for the job and Santorum desperately needs the publicity.
Whoever does it, it should be done with satire and in sound bites. Make Obama pay every day.
All I hear is how few vacation days Obama has taken...but that’s bull...he went to Hawaii how many times??, Chicago, Martha’s, Florida? Europe?
It's as if he tries to take on the role of the benign narrator, even at times referring to himself in the third person. Subliminally projecting himself right next to the participant where he becomes their voice of reason; their teacher; their friend...as the story unfolds. It is the familiar which we retreat to, and Obama tries to occupy this space. To his credit, this something that he is very good at, and he knows it.
Holiday?? Oh wait. It must be a muslime holiday. Silly me.
You also forgot the Internet and ATMs he keeps blaming.
..... The Republican party, as a national organization, apparently STILL (IMHO) has failed to develop and implemented any sort of coherent strategy to effectively vie for control of the national political narrative.
They apparently have not yet read the chapter on “propaganda” in the new manual of American political discourse.
Obamah Blames _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
I wonder what kind of damage he will do when he leaves office? If he gets kick out in 2012 this slug could be
back in 2016.
With obamma, it is always somebody else’s fault. Does this guy think he knows all the right way to do things, has all the right answers, and that he is infallible? If this guy were to get off his high horse, maybe he would see what others really think about his decisions, and the wrong direction he is leading this country down. I am with Rush, I think this is all deliberate on his part. Nobody can be this wrong, unless it is deliberate!
Well, maybe after the election he can sell used Chevy Volts.
Coming Soon: The Blame Campaign with new slogan for the folks. I think it will be: “The Ain’t May Fault” Tour.
Don’t forget earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and hailstorms!
Sounds like you need a vacation!
Until seven months ago, Obama and the Democrats controlled all three branches of the government, pushing through any legislation they wanted, while the economy plummeted. Since January of this year, the GOP has had control of 1/3 of the government.
Why don’t Republicans answer every question with these salient facts, so the state-run media has to quote them? If Republicans don’t speak up, BO will whine his way to a second term and this country will be finished.
