Pro-Gaddafi forces had taken to the sea by boat after fighting a desperate rearguard battle for the refinery, the regimes last source of fuel for its besieged capital.
...
Although a challenging target, small and under way at sea, a direct hit was scored with a laser-guided Paveway bomb which sank the vessel, Major Gen Nick Pope said.

Things are going south for Kaddafi.
Headline should be NATO shoots fleeing people in the back to aid Al Queda affiliates.
That's going to leave a mark.
What exactly did that have to do with protecting civilians? Weren’t the boat’s crew civilians.
It’s time for Russian or Chinese troops to be invited in by Gadaffi to protect the country against foreign aggression.
What is our role in this conflict? Where did Hussein get the money to conduct the war ops we know nothing about? Where are the media? Where the War Powers Act?
Hussein is proof the power to impeach has been excised from our Constitution.
I'm not a weapons expert so maybe a fellow FReeper can answer this for me: did someone on the ground have to paint the target with the laser?
-———Its time -——
For counter attack. In Paris, in London, in Martha’s Vineyard.
The Republicans don’t have the guts to impeach two democrat presidents in a row. He is effectively a dictator and the democrats know it. The proof is in the executive orders.
You do realize the House recommends impeachment. It takes the Senate to remove him.. Do you really think there are enough votes to remove him??
I'm pretty sure the House impeaches, not just recommends impeachment. As for removal, I don't think the republicans in the Senate would have the guts even if they won all 23 democrat seats up for grabs next year.
No; another aircraft could do it, or the pilot of the plane could have kept the laser pointer on target.
I have no sympathy. Retreating troops are legit targets under the laws of war.
Laws of war? What is this "war" you speak of? Has Britain declared war on Libya? We haven't declared war in 70 years.
Thanks Pan_Yan.
Let’s see... defeated soldiers making their escape... boat with probably minimal armaments... not making an attack on another vessel or vessels... was it sunk without a demand to surrender? Because that’s probably against the Geneva Convention, or some international law, or a violation of human rights, or a war crime or crime against humanity...
The House indicts and the Senate tries the case. No possibility of winning an impeachment case in the Senate right now against the Dark Lord. If we had a 60+ seat GOP majority in the Senate, maybe then.
Query - “How long does it take Obama and NATO to win a Two Week War against a third world army in Libya?”
Answer- “No one knows - so far it’s been five months.”
Laws of war?
The UN mandate they are operating under authorizes ONLY ACTS TO PROTECT CIVILIANS.
This was not war. This was not a UN sanctioned action.
This was murder. Probably a prosecutable war crime.
