Sarah talks about GOP race to the White House
At 16:38 into the interview Greta VanSusteren asks Sarah Palin about entering the race -- any closer, why going to Iowa??
Sarah Palin talks about her next appearance at an inaugural tea party event in Iowa Sept 3rd and how she plans to continue doing a lot of traveling.
Greta asks again, with some exasperation, saying this is "an awful tease" and you're driving the media mad, so would she please give a little hint (paraphrasing).
Sarah Palin said she's still contemplating whether to jump in or not and then told Greta, you don't need a title to make a difference or hold office to make a difference - I am proof of that as are millions of other Americans -- wants to explain to other Americans how we can all be apart of the solution - empower individuals, not wait for government to do it for us.

Gov. Palin tells it like it is...
I do think America that will be better off, if Obama STAYS on vacation until 2013. Ahh, but we all know that between vacations Obama will resume his transformative disassembly of America, into his vision of a 3rd world slave colony.
Yea, and his ice cream ain't bad either. :)
I just wanted to add that at this point I don’t think Perry would be a bad President and under normal circumstances may well have been a very good President. This particular time around we need a truly exceptional person - the pressures/problems the next President will have to deal with are going to be extreme and will crush any remotely normal person.
Remember, we're electing a president, not a dictator.
I think you are overly optimistic. Palin would likely start as a serious underdog and would have to turn it around for her to win. The media has in many ways had their way with her, particularly with those who don’t follow politics closely. It will take a lot of work to turn that around.
I believe she can do it, but it will be fight. A long hard fight.
Yes. I’m assuming we’ll have a Republican congress. A leader sets the agenda.
I missed that. Got a source?
I’d love for her to run and would vote for her in a skinny minute. But she may be more effective if working outside the constraints that official politicians are stuck with. She can speak the truth and say anything, no matter how un-PC, and get away with it ‘cause she’s “just a guy”.
Tell that to King Zero.
Most polls have, over the last year, shown that she has a solid core base of support of at least 35%..because she’s NOT a candidate, some of that support has migrated to others who have declared. If she came in, it’d come back in a flash. I suspect that a good bit of Perry’s pop in the polls came from likely Palin voters..
B.S. Perry's sudden conservative rhetoric can be time matched to the rise of the Tea Party. His actions over the yrears sure as hell don't.
“Greta VanSusteren has been a good media friend and outlet for Sarah Palin.”
I agree, and Greta has done it without being a shill for her. Greta has openly said she has disagreements with Sarah on some issues, but she’s done a great job giving good interviews and unbiased commentary. I think Greta’s one of the best interviewers in the business. Regardless of the party, she’ll call BS when she sees it.
CW, a couple of things to remember. First, this is exactly the formula for ambiguity she’s been using for months, every part of it, including the part about you can make a difference without a title.
Second, the aforementioned ambiguity has tactical value if she is running, because it keeps her out from under FEC scrutiny for the maximum possible time, a financial advantage to an operation expecting to be outspent, possibly by an order of magnitude, by her true opponent.
Third, she is channeling Reagan by invoking this tea party theme of making a difference without a title. She knows her history, that the conservative movement of the 80’s came about in part because Reagan instigated many young people to become active and make a difference where they were, even if the weren’t necessarily political office holders. It was that massive influx of new support for conservative values that helped him generate more than just a short-term win. That is how great leaders think, and how they accomplish so much more than mere politicians.
So you would do well not to read too much into these deflections. They are purposely designed to provide her with legal cover until the moment of her choosing. My belief is that she is running, and this whole line of discussion is shortly going to become moot.
I don’t spend every waking moment reading this board. And, I do not watch Fox 24/7 either. If Palin said that, it is a departure from every other comment I have heard from her about the candidates who have announced. I would have expected the Palin supporters to have splashed it all over the board.
If they have, I missed it.
I get the impression that Sarah will try to clear the path for a conservative, small governent Republican to run by acting as a media flak shield. Maybe she runs in the primaries.
Now all we need is a conservative, small government Republican to emerge. Bachmann and Perry seem possible, but I don’t know enough about them.
Obama certainly has been instructive in how much easier it is to tear something apart than to build it.
Yup, you missed it. Luckily, Onyx didn’t. Check the videos so you don’t stay uninformed!
Odd, everything I’ve been hearing her say since candidates started announcing has been along the lines of ‘Yeah, they’re good, but I’m not seeing the right person in the race yet’.
