Why do I suspect the author is going for a twofer and will soon report that the anointed one already sits in Washington when he’s not at Maratha’s Vineyard.
“Peter Waldron, a staffer involved in Michele Bachmanns faith outreach, has compared Texas Governor Rick Perry to Old Testament King Saul and Bachmann to King David. On his Facebook page the day after Bachmanns straw poll victory in Iowa on Saturday, Waldron wrote, “From afar and in prayer I see a Saul and David scenario between Perry and Bachmann. One looks everything like a king while the other is anointed.” Waldron later told his followers that Bachmann “fights with the anointing of God upon her.””
OH Good Lord!!! Put a sock in it Peter!
So Bachmann is King David,Allen West is Harriet Tubbman and Obama...well who he thinks he is changes daily. Right now it’s Abraham Lincoln.
Will these people please SHUT UP already.
So far, I’m not excited by any of them!
Past "anointed" candidates include Presidents Bob Dole and John McCain.
Concerning Saul and David, they were both annointed.
One of the comments at the source URL was rather amusing:
This time around my money is on Goliath.

I could see a David and Goliath comparison, but David and Saul?
In that comparison, David is the “annointed one”, the one God had chosen to be king.
Saul had become corrupt (in both spirit and mind) and turned his back on God. Saul was the one standing in the way of God’s chosen one.
I know Bachmann understands the story behind David and Saul. It disturbs me that she would use that as a comparison between herself and any of the other GOP candidates. It takes a lot of ego to think of yourself as somehow being annointed to the task of president.
Bachmann did not make the analogy, a staffer did on his own fabebook page.
What is a Dominionist?
One who believes in Dominionism
