Yeah, I know their subs are sh#t compared to ours, but gee-whiz one just happened to pop up right in the middle of an aircraft carriers group during one of our military maneuvers. .
The subs, missiles and even people will have or might have the only advantage of being numerically superior. In other words like the Germans had Tiger tanks, but our Shermans or better yet the crappy Russian tanks just flat out outnumbered them and overwhelmed them. Similar to the suicide frontal assaults of the Japanese.
Now the other point isn't that I think China or anybody would "win", but just how much would we lose in order to fight a military war.
You seem to understand what I'm talking about so my point is that of Clausewitz..... by the time military actions start, the state of war has existed and the outcome should not be questionable. War is just an extension of the political.
As far as missiles, all it takes is one "lucky" one to put the hurt on us. Look at how the press and everybody carried on about casualties during Bush's term..... they of course never mention them with our current TOFUS... but how do you think mom and pop would react to something as tragic and accidental and as "unlucky" as CLICK ON THIS...
If it were a Republican president when this happened, my gawd... we'd have to offer the human sacrifice of a Christian Republican politician in order to satisfy the quislings we have in the democrat party.
I think we've been probed and tested. Our logistics and temperament in conflicts near and far show that, we fight... but maybe not so much.
