Anyone who drives up and down I-35 sees it: plenty of out-of-state license plates. I presume they’re not here for the 100-degree temperatures and drought conditions. They’re here for jobs. Ever since the recession, it’s a well-known fact that Texas is the best place to hunt for jobs.

You can claim Perry has nothing to do with it but somebody kept government off the backs of Texans so they could grow their businesses and earn a good living. Just as a wild guess, that wasn’t Californians or New Yorkers.

Now, it Perry had only been around for the past two years during a growth spurt, you could say it was just a fluke. But he’s been governor for 10 years during all sorts of economic cycles including hurricanes Rita and Ike.

Sure, there are some warts on governor Perry, but I’d take him over Obama and anyone here who wants to trash him may have to eat their words if he becomes the nominee and your choices are Perry, Obama or sit it out. Anyone who doesn’t do their duty then has no right to complain.

RE: As soon as the Fed quits turning the dollar into toilet paper, Texas will go bust again, and they’ll still be paying for all the corporate welfare handouts Perry’s made over the last 10 years.

Some other factors involved...

Rick Perry, or any government official at any level, does nothing to create jobs, EXCEPT to stay out of the way of those that can, and do.

Unfortunately for Texans, Rick has spent close to 400M of taxpayer money funding his pet industry jobs contracts programs referrrred to as the Emerging Technology Fund and the Texas Enterprise Fund with some serious fraud waste and abuse being committed by a majority of the participants. The return on investment for these jobs contracts are pretty dismal. Rick's not afraid to spend taxpayers money on big government handouts to subsidize private sector jobs and he seems to have no problem pushing his own version of "stimulus" spending.

This post just needs a bump.

I blogged on it, today. I was glad to find it here, and that you’d done all the hard work with those graphs. Thank you and thank “Political Math!”

You’re saying that we don’t need oil?

"You’re saying that we don’t need oil?"

Nope. I'm saying that once oil prices drop back down below a certain level, Texas becomes a less profitable place to produce it. Same for ag commodities. The Texas economy is tied directly to the weak dollar. Unfortunately, that weak dollar is poison for most of the rest of the country.
