A Louisiana man is accused of decapitating and dismembering his disabled 7-year-old son and leaving the boy's head near the street so the child's mother would see it -- a killing that brought seasoned police officers to tears, authorities said Monday.
A stuffed bear and a handwritten note are seen outside the home where seven year old Jori Lirette, who was disabled and wheelchair bound from cerebral palsy, was found decapitated and left on the street in Thibodaux, Monday, Aug. 15, 2011.
Jeremiah Lee Wright, 30, of Thibodaux has confessed to killing Jori Lirette, Police Chief Scott Silverii said. He said Wright was booked with first-degree murder and was held Monday in lieu of $5 million bond.

We will get it too. Louisiana has several capital homicide offenses, but about the only one ever applied is with respect to a child victim.
This bastard will end up dead, the usual Louisiana professional bleeding heart class notwithstanding.
I am just sick about this. I can not immagine the little boys horor in his last few minutes of life.

The system would break-down without defense lawyers who are willing to represent those accused of horrendous crimes.
Those guys are not evil, they are simply doing their job.
Not to cast aspersions on the officers involved in the photo, but the look on the faces of all three of them seem to say, “If I could get away with it, I’d kill you myself, you POS.”

I’ve heard stories about Angola: none of them very nice.

I understand lawyers defending people who claim innocence. I do NOT understand a human being who tries to get someone free who ADMITS guilt.
People who defend the admittedly guilty aren’t interested in justice-IMO- they are engaging in a mental ‘game’. Who is the slickest attorney, who can manipulate the law the best. Also- high-profile cases like heinous murder are great for attention.
Somewhere in there, the actual crime is IRRELEVANT.
I don’t know how any attorney, who defends someone he KNOWS is guilty, can live with themselves.

I understand your emotions. However, there is a reason for our system and the due process.
There was a time and a place in history where “ADMITTEDLY guilty condemned themselves” to death, spectacularly, in front of a staged “judges” and court “audience”.
They condemned themselves because they were coerced to by mental physical torture, and or torture, or threat of torture to their family members.
That place was Stalin’s USSR.
Which is why we have a due process for even the most heinous, confessed criminals.
It used to be that justice was swift in these cases. He would be fried within a few weeks if this was a few years ago. He confessed. The British papers have the gory details that our pussified papers refuse to share.
If the name matched any well known conservative you can bet your @ss it would be plastered in the headlines of every paper in the nation the next day.

First of all that leo Kern, the REAL reason he was killed is because his father was another Bernie Manoff. He stole alot of money from alot of different investors for Robert Harvey,an atty in new orleans. Joe Joe’s orders was to make it look like a robbery. The reason Harry Lee got so involved was to protect Mr. Daniel Oppenihiemer who was the brains behind the whole scam in which, after he could not pass his bar exam, used the money to build what is now State Farm Acceptance. I know that part of your father's information is correct: there is indeed a Daniel A. Oppenheimer involved with American Thrift & Finance Plan, the successor of State Farm Acceptance. Hmm.
More info is needed. Do you happen to know the full name of the scam artist (the elder Kern)? Also, who is "Joe Joe"? That sounds familiar, but it's been some years since I lived in that area. I can't quite place the nickname.
There was always something about that murder that didn't seem to add up - but if the robbery was just for show, it was certainly successful. The one part that really doesn't fit is the victim. Why was the son of a wealthy con artist working his butt off as a McDonald's manager?

I just found this thread and am infuriated by the previous poster. I am Leo Kern’s brother, Tim. My father, also named Leo, is a retired pharmacist, not a Ponzi Scheme operator. My father worked for over fifty years and retired at the age of 75. My brother was killed by an individual that was pure evil. At young age Durahm began his psychopathic adventures by torturing animals. He graduated to humans and the result is that my brother is dead.
I invite the previous poster to write me. I would gladly meet with and explain the circumstances that lead to the murder of my brother.
First of all little pete started a story,he is upset because bobby jindal won’t sign his father’s pardon and if he does not I will expose both Jindal and the late Harry Lee for what they really are. it’s true but let allow me to finish it. Yes that Kern kid was killed because of stolen money, that Durham guy also “hit” a woman (Patricia Rupp) at 208 Perrin Dr. in Arabi on wednesday novemeber 6th 1991, it was very cold that morning I remember. That was related to this case because Patricia Rupp was a book keeper that helped Danny and Kern steal the money, this is why she was targeted, the pipe bomb used had a mercury switch, it was placed in a box with mardi gras beads and the saints logo on it, this is information that was never released to the public and if you worked at the court house in jefferson parish what I am about to talk about will blow your mind. I am not sure why the kid worked at mcdonalds, maybe he wanted to own a franchise or not be a thief like his father’s friends. If you remember (I won’t say the judge’s name) but he had a typist by the name of “Joelle” who had a son who always got in some kind of petty trouble and she would have the judge fix it, ok, now your starting to see who “joe joe” is, also there was a red head girl who “dated” the kern boy, she was suppose to bring him to City Park the day before or that thursday if I remember. The kid was suppose to be killed in city park. The hit was moved because Harry Lee wanted to control the investigation, so the red head girl went in there to get that kern boy to leave the store but he choose to stay and work, so Joel went in and killed him there. Gurd and Danny Oppenheimer played a huge role in this but I won’t go any further. I will say with my old age I do regret most of my past, it’s a shame lots of people got both hurt and killed by pardoned inmates who “worked” for Edward Edwards and Harry Lee, one of them got arrested for another murder about a year ago but the name of ROy Garland, Roy use to live in kenner, he’s in the jefferson parish jail last I heard for another murder, maybe you should talk to him .......

Harry Lee announced that he “wanted to be there when they stuck him” right after that Burl Cain became warden, this was to keep that Durham kid silent, Harry Lee and Burl Cain was real close, this is Louisiana Politics, not hard to believe, I can go on and on about the Kern murder and other murders (one involving Weiner Cort furniture) by a Drago....
