Hubble Deep Space Images

This is a video of two deep space experiments using the Hubble space telescope. First, Hubble was pointed to a "dark" spot in space and left to collect data for 10 days to see if anything was there. The second is to use this data and the Red Shift to create a 3D image. The result is presented here. To me, pretty amazing stuff.

"Give it up. The laws of physics says we ain't going anywhere..."

Pish posh.I'm sure the Author of those laws will have something to say in that regard.

Easiest if you look at it this way.

The big bang didn’t “happen”.

The big bang is still happening.

The big bang, despite its acceptance is still just a theory. My biggest problems with it are the fact that science has removed certain physical properties to explain its earliest seconds.

If you pursued those disciplines, math and physics, and you harbor the notion inter stellar travel by humans is possible than you are seriously deluded FRiend.

I’m having trouble with the whole big bang thing with this. Why for instance, if the bang went off 13 billion years ago, can you not see the edge of the universe at about 7 billion light years out?

One thing that's often misunderstood is that we can only see so far. We can see to the edge of our own light horizon and no further. That doesn't mean that if someone was at the edge of our light horizon couldn't see just as far beyond what we can see.

That would be horrible. I dreamed last night I was given three forks for dinner but couldn’t decide which one to use for my salad. When I finally made a decision the salad turned to soup and I went hungry.

>>> If you have trouble wrapping your head around the concept of infinity and a universe that is expanding “into something”

Suppose you lived inside a balloon. As the balloon inflated, how could you imagine what outside space it expands into.

seriously, do you think we know all there is to know about interstellar travel?

I suggest you go back to the books and read about something called “the tunnel effect”.
It’s instantaneous. Faster than light. Just like Bell’s quantum entanglement.

We don’t know how to produce or control it.

Yet.

If I were you, I’d call that college. They might give you a refund.

"I think we are looking at creation..."

When I look at those images I think of home,I think of the timeless eternity we will spend with the Creator of all that is.I think of the Captain of our salvation leading many sons to glory. To see the creation is to know the Creator. It leaves me in humbled awe at what He has wrought and who He is.

you missed my central question- do you think we know everythign there is to know about internstellar travel.

By all we know right now, yes- you are right. But I dont assume we know everything by a long shot.

FTL travel is impossible, but wormhole travel does not violate FTL.

I posted a link to the Fermi Paradox above, try reading it.

We only need to get to say 1/8 the speed of light to put Alpha Centauri within a generation.

In the next life, travel between worlds will not be at the speed of light. Much too slow. It will be at the speed of THOUGHT.

You know will not make fun of your beliefs. I’ll stick to science. The universe is a boring, lifeless and violent place that should be of little interest to us humans. But I will not belittle someones hobby.

Ever since taking college level physics and learning the time travel is impossible and traveling at the speed of light is impossible...Even if something ( a space ship) could travel at the speed of light if it ever collided with the smallest speck of dust it would explode. It just ain’t happening.

So you're saying we're going to have to rely on the old matter transporter then...or wormholes.

I think a big part of the problem is that our early physics is based on 3 dimensional geometry.
But the algebra of higher dimensions is well known, and doesn’t always easily get represented in 3D.

So I say “think outside the box”... maybe I should say “think outside the tesseract”....

;-)
