Just donated to perry and bought bumper sticker & yard sign (I am in)

Posted on 08/14/2011 6:43:59 PM PDT by indianrightwinger

I just committed myself 15 mins ago. My first round donation is done. Was always looking for the winnable conservative candidate with extensive executive experience. Between Romney and Perry, choice is clear. Only other possible entrant is Palin and she interested me as a reform minded GOP Governor who was a VP candidate. While she may enter the race and be more to the right of Perry, I am not looking for the "right most" candidate.

Bwahhh hahahaha. . . hooooo hooooo. . . sigh. Wow. Wiping tears off of my face from laughing. Fourth of July, huh? I bet you were just frantic waiting for that date to arrive so you could sign up. Nice try though. Hey, did you know Kerry was in Vietnam, a war in which there were atrocities worse than those perpetrated by Genghis Kahn?

The instate tuition is for children who have grown up in Texas public schools, graduated from Texas public schools, and are in the process of obtaining their own American citizenship. There are no rewards for any illegal family members nor for those students who don’t seek citizenship, only those young adults who have graduated from Texas schools and have chosen to become American citizens despite what their parents did. Additionally, while they will be an American citizen when their citizenship process is completed, their in state status will be for colleges and universities in their own home state of Texas. It is not a federal mandate other states must follow, simply a program in The State of Texas and affecting Texas colleges and universities.

This is a complicated issue, but do at least remember we are talking about young adults who are going to the effort to obtain their own legal citizenship here in The United States and what benefits their citizenship choice provides for them, not about what their illegal parents may or may not have gotten away with.

What PERFECT candidate can you name?

There is none, obviously. There is no need to compromise. That's the point dumbass.

Perry is indeed one of those newly-minted conservatives who always seem to get religion just before the big national campaign. Romney would be the model, but Perry is determined to break the mold.

So forget 3rd party, because no matter how you cut it, Obama’s re-election would be a real catastrophe. .... Signalman

Obama's first term gave us the Tea Party...wonder what a second one would do? ..... who knows what evil?

So, let me get your logic, evil.

It is good that a Marxist was elected and inagurated on January 20, 2009, and has since tripled our national debt, because the Tea Party held it's first rally on January 24, 2009.

Are you on crack?

You obviously know very little about Texas politics. The Lt Gov in Texas was a democrat from 1873 to 1999. Texas had only been trending Republican for about 10 years when Perry won. East Texas has a long history of “Christian conservative dems” while west Texas (where Perry is from) has the same history with libertarian dems. In state elections, it was about which dem would win.

On a similar front, aside from Bill Clements winning twice separately, dems had the Governorship from 1874 to 1995. In 1992, HW won Tx by 3% over Clinton, and Clinton scored 37%. In 1996, Clinton got 43% of the vote (in a 3 way race) and Dole did not get 50%.

So when Perry first ran for Lt Gov, to barely get 50% was huge. Then, he blew out the 02 campaign (where he obviously got indys) with 58% of the vote. In 06, he won plurality against 3 other candidates and still almost got 40%. Im sure that included indys as Strayhorn was siphoning off the establishment votes. After Katrina, there was an influx in democrat voters in the Houston area, that were first able to vote in 06, which decreased his margin. In 2010, he smoked KBH by 20 pts in the primary, and won the general by 13, again getting over 50%. Again, he had to get indys for that vote.

Maybe read up next time.

No perfect candidate means some compromise against the standard of perfect.
That's the point dumbass.
Really? You appear both crass and pointless to me.

Fine. Whatever you say. This is starting to remind me of a college football thread, and I'm not much of a sports fan. Can't say I'm interested in Perry after getting a good look at his supporters and their 'charming' insults...even if Palin endorses him.

Good luck.
