GREENLAND, N.H. - Following an announcement speech full of anti-Obama rhetoric, Texas Governor Rick Perry answered questions from New Hampshire political activists for nearly a half-hour on Saturday that fleshed out his policy views for a group, a state, and a country that barely knows the latest Republican presidential contender. Like most in the GOP, Perry espoused a muscular support for Israel amid a turbulent Mideast, saying, Israel is not ever gonna have to worry, if Im the president to the United States, where were gonna be. Like most Republicans, he also labeled himself a fiscal conservative bent on reining in government spending. Were going to stop spending the money, unless I run out of ink in a veto pen, the governor pledged. Perry also professed a pro-business bent, a calling card of his party, especially when it comes to small business support. I can go small community with you; thats how I grew up, said the native of Paint Creek, Texas. We didnt even have a post office. But in a bold-yet-folksy way, the Texan also put his own spin on an array of questions from a crowd of more than 150. Asked about how the country copes with the growing cost of Social Security and other entitlement programs, Perry said political leaders had to show courage especially in dealing with Social Security, which he labeled a Ponzi scheme. He said: I can promise you, my 27-year-old son, Social Security, under the program that we have today, will not be there. Perry, himself 61, pledged to back a base level of support for needy retirees, but he said calling the current retirement system a Ponzi scheme - in which contributions from one group is to pay immediate benefits to another group - is the first step in deciding how...

Oh yes, the FRENCH!
I am no Paul fan - what I think is most interesting and important about “paul fans” is that the libertarian wing of politics is getting more active and that THROW all the bums out is getting some traction.
13 minutes and 48 seconds. They’re usually quicker than that.
And yet, Perry supported TARP and the raising of the debt ceiling by $2.4 TRILLION dollars.
Why anyone is buying this guy I have no idea.
No, no, Mr Perry is the real deal! Conservative pundits say so. It’s just like when Oprah came out and told people that Obama is ‘the One’.
He also said that “We are not the servants of government, we are the government.”
Someone should have reminded him of that when he used the executive order option to force ll yr old girls to have Guardisil injections. Of course the fact that one of his former staffers was a lobbyist for Merck had nothing to do with it, nor did Merck’s large campaign contributions.
Facts are not spam.
Well duh. “We” the PEOPLE are, in fact, the government.
Whale, other than being toothless the perradicts are math whizzes!
Yeah, Tempest, and LIBERAL pundits say he’s conservative, too. Seems like you and the other four Perry spammers are the only ones that think he’s a leftie.
I know. I think they’re getting tired.
We’re “buying” this guy because the proof is in the puddin’. He gets results. Conservative results.
- Texas is second only to California in the size of its illegal alien population. During the decade Rick Perry has acted as Governor, the Lone Star State’s number of illegal aliens and anchor babies has consistently grown.
- Governor Perry has rejected Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration law enforcement measure, describing it as inappropriate for Texas.
- Governor Perry has repeatedly voiced his opposition to building a border fence. He has derided the notion of completing the barrier as “nonsense” and “idiocy.”
- Governor Perry signed a bill granting taxpayer subsidized in-state college tuition rates to illegal aliens in Texas. Perry happily boasted of this accomplishment when making an official visit to Mexico.
- The Governor from Texas has opposed the use of E-Verify, a free system available to employers that allows them to check whether or not they are hiring someone who can legally work in the U.S.
- Perry signed into law the Texas DREAM Act, which is the same amnesty bill that Obama and the Democrats tried to pass during the last congress
Did it force them? Or was there a parental opt out?
Tough-talking RINOs. Conservatives keep falling for them again and again and again.
Um...Perry signed off on the Dream Act in Texas, and the Texas/Mexico border remains porous, while he has been Texas Governor. Perry is a globalist politician. Many Texas conservatives don’t like him, for a variety of reasons.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Hey! I’m a Junior!
I hope all these folks who refuse to support any Republican candidate who does not line up perfectly with their personal belief system take a moment to reflect on the fact that this same attitude got Obama elected, and anyone who believes that we would be worse off today (or at least the same) under a President Mc Cain, you are living in a dream world. Stupid Republicans are going to take us right over the cliff to another four years of Obama hoping for a Palin presidency, which can’t happen. I love her, but she is unelectable, because she is universally unpopular with independents. The candidate we get must get our fiscal house in order, then and only then can we deal with anything else. Perry has done some stupid stuff, but for goodness sake, can you see his love of his country, his desire to build our confidence and get people back to work, his sincere hope to save us from this monster socialist in the white house? And, if there is anyone who throws stones at Perry who has never made any mistakes or who has no regrets, they are liars and fools. We have to get the marxist out of the white house...don’t lose sight of that.
