Just hours after Tim Pawlenty ended his presidential race, the race for his supporters was already well underway.
Many of the former Minnesota governors staffers, donors and volunteers said rival campaigns contacted them shortly after Pawlenty announced his decision Sunday. Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman and Mitt Romney all made direct phone calls to key supporters, while other campaigns put out more indirect feelers.
......Tricia Pridemore, Pawlentys Georgia finance chair, immediately got an e-mail from one rival candidate and a phone call from another on Sunday morning. Declining to specify who was reaching out, she said wasnt ready to make a commitment either. Its a very sad time for everyone involved in the campaign, she said.
But she floated one possibility: Its imperative that we nominate someone with executive experience and a proven record with great results. I think many of the Pawlenty supporters will take a strong look at Governor Perry and see where they want to go.
...In a possible preview, former Ambassador Gregory Slayton, a Bush ranger who raised for McCain in 2008, abandoned Pawlenty last week for the Texas governor.
Though some Pawlenty supporters arent counting Romney out just yet despite their candidates harsh criticism of his Massachusetts health care plan that he referred to as Obamneycare.
Its going to be a migration to either Perry or Romney, said Ray Washburne, a Texas real-estate developer and restaurateur who raised money for Pawlenty. None of the other candidates are getting our people.
Washburne added, Lets get behind someone who can actually win.....

Perry greeted like a “rock star” in Waterloo.
With all due respect to his “team”, they didn’t really do a good job, did they?
Flavor of the month?
BTW Glad he’s in the race...the more the merrier...well except for Ron Paul...who should just go away, he gives us crazy people a bad name.
Perry is building a coalition.
Pawlenty has supporters and they will find a home with the Perry campaign.
Pawlenty would have beaten Obama easily and he would have been a good President. He blew it when he didn’t back up his criticism of Romney in the first debate. He never recovered.
A slip-up from which he never recovered. He second guessed himself.
I don’t think that’s a reflection of his support team. Pawlenty’s team never seemed incompetant. There’s only so much you can do with a candidate that lacks charisma. In the end what seemed to stop any momentum he had was when he took a shot at Romney and didn’t back it up in the debate.
Incompetance is what you would find if you look at McCain’s team. None of those people deserve to find further work unless it’s for a liberal. :-)
No way .. Pawlenty was weak and nobody is in the mood for weakness in these turbulent times . Pawlenty was afraid of Romney so I can only imagine what the B.O. machine would have done to him . Glad he was smart enough to get out ..

Throughout the entire, but short campaign he came off as weak and ineffectual.
That team just got their butts kicked, why would anyone want those losers?
That suits you.
I think he missed a bet by not going with “Romobamadingdongcare”.
OK, well, he could leave out the “dingdong” at his discretion.
Perry/Palin? I don’t think so. Palin has more sense and patriotism than to hook up with an open borders candidate.
And unmanly.
