Rick Perry, who entered the 2012 GOP race Saturday, greeted his first crowd of voters here with two words rarely heard in these parts: with a wave, he let out a boisterous Hi, yall to a crowd clad in khakis and button ups gathered around a backyard pool.
There was also this: Yall holler outta question to open up a question and answer session.
And this when it got going: Theres hands going up everywhere, somebody just get after it.
There were times when the three-term Texas governor sounded eerily like the Saturday Night Live version of George W. Bush, droppin every g and proclaiming awesome at nothing in particular.
His appearance raised the question that is at the center of his candidacy: Can Perry take his Texas twang on the road and meet voters where they live, in cities and suburbs and swing states?

The mockery was subtle, yet it is there. I think the people of New Hampshire will like Gov. Perry and his record on job creation.
This is so amazing! We have a candidate who “can win this thang!” Southern accents are awesome!
RICK PERRY, 2012!
From the Compost? Fugedaboudit!
they are going for the jugular on Michelle too

Here’s his twang on the road and it’s not pretty. His SUV is speeding and even though the cop is only giving the aide a warning, he’s got to butt in.

This is yet another example of left-wing liberal elitism.
They (the liberals) this the way THEY talk is right and proper and the other 90% of America that may speak a little different, can be mocked. Are we all not Americans?
Perry will run on his Texas record. Obama will run against GWB. (again)
Democrats believe that all the really smart folks aren't from anywhere at all. They spring up at Ivy league schools and talk like academics.
Real people?? What the heck do they know??
“Can I get me one of dem huntin’ licenses?” John Kerry.
“I taint in no ways tired.” Hillary Clinton
Remember how they all made fun of Obama’s extremely weird way of talking? He speaks English like nobody I’ve ever heard before. It’s like a micro-dialect from the Obama-Durham clan that combines a whistling noise, strange inflections, odd guttural stops, very weird syllable accents, pregnant pauses and other-worldly intonations.
Strange, I don’t remember anybody pointing that out either.
Really? Perry has a job creation history? That's news to this life long Texan. New Hampshire needs to understand how Texas government is set up. The governor is merely a figurehead and a paper signer. Nothing more. Any job growth is due to our legislature passing bills that encourage companies from both coasts to see that we have cheap land and lower salaries. A win-win for their bottom line.
Three months ago, most Perry worshippers wouldn't have recognized him if they passed him on the street. 2,000 miles away from Texas, but go ahead, believe what you will.
the “Amen Brother” will drive them crazy!
The GWB/Perry comparison lends itself too easily, I’m afraid.
For me, Perry represents establishment, and I’m fed up with establishment.
Washington Post & MSM?
Forget about them, they will eventually go away. They are irrelevant.
My hope is that Perry doesn’t start going around in a “cowboy” hat, unless he’s out working on the ranch—(I don’t think he has a ranch.)
Whatever, I guess some folks are really scared that he’s might be our next president,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Oh well!
BTW, as a born and bred Texan (6th generation), I don’t think Perry tawks lik a Texin..........
I’m not going to support Perry, but I can hardly blame him for trying to get out of a ticket.
