I need five minutes to prepare a bowl of nice, fluffy popcorn. Num.

The USPS is planning on closing several post offices locally. It makes sense except it will create a shortage of post office boxes unless more are added to the post offices that remain.

8 billion in losses? WTH? Fed-ex or UPS would close down if they had one year of a billion in loss.

What is going on in the post offices?

Maybe the USPS, their rent seeking union friends, and congress could make a deal with the UPS or Fedex. No? In that case, I guess they’re screwed. Or taxpayers will get screwed by the USPS and the unions.

Using the democrat's logic, they should raise the revenues by increasing the price of stamps and everything should be balanced, right?

Or they could farm out the mail to UPS or FedEx and have it done efficiently by the private sector.

But most likely they will opt to continue on with the money pit USPS and just add it onto the taxpayers back.

I dated someone who worked for the post office. The stories he used to tell me were mind boggling. The abuse and the stuff the union members were allowed to get away with, because of the union contract, it was absolutely stunning. These people will never make it working in the private market.

Wow, This seems like a much bigger (although mostly ignored)story than the fight in wisconsin. This affects Democratic Party power in every state not just one. Hopefully the intransigent union can be defanged without causing even more unemployment in the US

When clerks are getting 90-100K to sell stamps you know something is wrong. Shut it down.

Pray for America

Ok here is how we solve this problem. We mandate that everybody buy stamps. If they don’t buy stamps we will get the IRS to take it out of their payroll taxes up to $700.00 dollars. We will exempt union members from having to buy the stamps. Hold on here. We could close down the post office, and mandate that everybody buy stamps from private companies like Fed Ex., and UPS. Yes it’s sarcasm.

Have you ever heard about people who sit in their cars in the garage and put a hose from their tailpipe into the car to suck up the carbon monixide to commit suicide?

This is what public unions and Democratic politicians do, when it all comes down.

The problem is that the public sector relies on the private sector to feed it; the private sector is not doing well now, and the Government officials, unions and politicians who gamble with the house’s money (taxpayers) and promised THEMSELVES BIG FAT SALARIES, BENNIES and PENSIONS W/BENNIES now cannot pay for them by stealing from the private sector.

F the USPS, let the AA hires and 400 pounders go mow lawns or try “Income at Home.”

I pay my bills online and have a corporate FedEx account for large parcels for my company’s business. My wife uses USPS for her EBay business, but hey, we charge more for shipping, then.

I am so sick and tired of Government, at every turn, some asshat Gub’mint worker needs MORE. These people do not face the reality of a person in business; their jobs are secure, over-market and promotion or advancement is a function of years “served” not who is best qualified or brightest.

It’s the long slog for the fattie pension, of which you would need $1MM saved to get the average one in CA at a 5% return.

Well, maybe the unions have a point. If the usps would just keep them emmployed and send them a check every month but just lose all that nonsense about driving around and delivering letters, they could save tons on gasoline costs. Shutting down the post office buildings and selling them would save big bucks too. Then they would have enough to maintain the payroll.

The Postal Service, which is facing a second year of losses totaling $8 billion or more, ...

They already lost $3 billion in the last quarter. They'll lose more than $8 billion this year.

Every delivery day, the local mailman here stops his mail van at exactly the same time opens the rear door and sits in the back of the van reading a book. He is on his break and he NEVER fails to take it. This symbolizes to me, in a nutshell, why the American Labor movement is dying. I don’t give a damn if the mailman has a break built into his contract. I am paying his salary and, as far as I am concerned, he is lazy.

Please don't go on strike, Mr. Postman. I won't get any bills mailed to me!

I'll miss the junk mail addressed to "resident" that makes me feel like someone special.

What will I do right before elections are held?

How will I be able to stay on top of the mudslinging without the wholesale libel and litany of lies and false promises filling my mailbox?

I'll really miss all the thoughtful, personal, hand-written letters all my friends and relatives send me all the time. too.

Close down the post offices...reduce the days of service for those remaining...and reduce the hours they're open.

No work needed, no labor needed!
