Anger and frustration from dozens of Clayton County parents who say their children are going hungry after their food stamps were suddenly cut off.

State officials admit that something went wrong down in Clayton County at the office that administers food stamps and Medicaid but they're still not sure what.

Parents say they can't buy food without those food stamps.

Maybe the husband should get a job. Wait...what husband?

Most of them probably already have jobs - - making license plates.

Real welfare recipient quote;

“My husband got his project cut off two weeks ago and I haven’t had any relief since.”

“Terry Clark says she stood in line for more than six hours at Clayton County’s Human Services Office because food stamp help for her six children unexpectedly ended.”

For some reason, I have a feeling she has never even spent 6 hours looking for a job.

Maybe they should quit buying pop, candy, birthday cakes, expensive steaks, potato chips by the load, and get lunch meat, chicken etc.

I agree completely. Most often when I look at what people are buying with their food stamps, they are purchasing things like snack foods, sodas and "juice drinks," sugary cereals, and convenience foods.

They would be much better served by purchasing staples: rice, potatoes, beans, less expensive cuts of meat, flour, corn meal, oatmeal, fruits and vegetables, and so forth.

Of course, that would entail actually cooking food on occasion.

It would not hurt for food stamp recipients to have to learn to get the most food for amount of money provided, and to learn how to properly prepare the food.

Yes wait until about 60 days without food stamps. The inner cities will be on fire. If you live in the burbs make sure you have weapons and the attitude to use them. At some point its going to be danged unpleasant.

I agree with you too.

It has gotten so out of hand that it is going to take a major overhaul to change it. Illegals use stamps regularly for the food and buy all the other stuff with the 50s and 100s they pull out of their wallets.

I’m so tired of the whole thing.

Perhaps they should have, oh I don’t know...stocked up a little.

Or perhaps they could have:

  1. gotten a job
  2. not had children they couldn't afford
  3. spent their money on food instead of beer, cigarettes, recreational drugs, and lotto tickets
  4. disconnect their cable TV and spend that money on food
  5. Gotten an job (oh I said that before)
Or they could come to my house and attempt to steal from me directly instead of using the government to do their stealing for them (and get shot thus ending their drain on society)

I think it defies the Laws of Physics to be a Prepper and a Taker at the same time.

Okay, I’m not saying these are the people. But I do know some (very few) people who are employed and, for whatever reason, qualify for this help. They didn’t plan it and it shames them to take it...and they get the very most bang for their buck.

I know the other things are right. I just didn’t want to lump everyone in together with the .10% that are genuine.

I will grant you that the 0.10% you stated is low, and that there are people who truly need assistance. I understand your perspective and don't disagree with it. (I believe private charities can help the destitute better than the gov't, but that is a different topic on a different thread.)

People living on the "edge" either barely eeking out a living or requiring assistance don't initially have the capacity to think more than a few days or weeks down the line. Many have to learn the lesson the hard way.

You know I do think the day the free food, lodging, and money benefits for their children stop is the day many of those children will be abandoned. Not all but many will be.
