DES MOINES, Iowa -- I like Sarah Palin a lot, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said at Thursdays nights Republican presidential debate. We are very good friends.
Bachmanns charitable words were the latest in a long line of glowing public comments that the two potential Republican rivals have showered upon each other since 2008.
But a personal relationship between the conservative female leaders has, in fact, been nonexistent for the past 16 months, as aides from Bachmanns camps have privately -- and sometimes publicly -- disparaged Palin to an extent that has caused growing exasperation in Palin world. That behind-the-scenes rancor is now boiling over as the former Alaska governor inches closer to a presidential run.
Some of the volunteers who have been organizing here in the nations first voting state for a potential Palin campaign have been particularly miffed by what they describe as a concerted effort from the Bachmann camp to spread rumors that Palin has already decided not to run and will eventually endorse the Minnesotan.
It is so pervasive and so continuous that it cant be rogue people doing it without the understanding and encouragement from the candidate herself, a Palin supporter in Iowa told RCP. The entire Bachmann team has gone around the state saying Palin is a lightweight and a quitter and saying that Sarahs about to endorse Michele. Bachmanns campaign is radioactively dirty. They are shameless.

Sounds like rumor mongering to me. I would look outside both camps for the source.
blah, blah, blah
All Palin has to do is enter the race.
The rest of this is chattering class chit.
Ed Rollins. Paging Ed Rollins...
I don’t see Palin attacking Bachmann. But i see Bachmann aides are always attacking Sarah though. It’s fair to lay it at Bachmanns feet.
She either agrees,,or can’t even control **her own** staff.
Sarah is just on the issues. This shows strength. I’ve always basically thought that the TEA movement happened, and Bachmann jumped out front and said “i’m in charge”. No doubt with the approval of the GOP.
No, after the Christmas break, members of Bachmann’s staff showed up in both South Carolina and Iowa, and started bad mouthing Palin to state and local GOP leaders. We know that for a fact.
What was that olds saying, same old crap, different day.
Rumormill.
Ding ding ding...We have a winner!
Do I smell Mitt?
ditto.
liberal diversionary trash can fire.
This matter can only be settled with a small swimming pool full of mud!
Really, Palin should have called herself in or out by now. At this point, I'd say she was out and will go home to Alaska and wait for .....
I hope she eventually gets tapped to head the EPA.
“Do I smell Mitt?”
It wasn’t me
Sounds to me like Sarah and Michele are okay and the problem lies with immature campaign workers and volunteers. It’s too bad that underlings lack sufficient faith in their chosen candidate. If they did, they wouldn’t have to rely on backstabbing and gossiping. You can’t build someone up by tearing others down.
In fact, given the way some of the “Palin supporters” dropped Palin for St Rick, I suspect more slime oozing from under that rock.
Bachmann knows perfectly well that America is not going to vote for a junior Congressmember for President. Her candidacy has one possible angle, and that's as a gunslinger conservative VP for a RINO President.
I don't want to Romney any names, but I think it's pretty clear who she's not attacking, and who she is.
People say that about you.
