Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Friday delivered a conservative message to Alabama Republicans on the eve of his expected presidential announcement, stressing the need to defeat President Barack Obama and reduce the size of government to make the country friendlier to job-creating businesses.
Perry called the federal government a "sprawling mess" that needs to be returned to the limited sized envisioned by the nation's founders in the Constitution.

Yep, it is TIME to DownSize DC!
Close entire departments beginning with the U.S. Department of Education (re-education) including their SWAT Team.
I agree. Then continue with the ATF, EPA, Dept of Commerce and Energy, none of them do any good.
I couldn’t agree more!
If the feds let us common folk help them, we could be well on the way to a balanced budget in say 4 or 5 days.
No, they don’t.
If there is any residual it should be returned to the States to administer.
Only exception to what you suggested is the Dept. of Energy. Within that department is an area of the Weapons Industry that should have remained under the Atomic Energy Commission and not under the Department of Energy.
“Within that department is an area of the Weapons Industry that should have remained under the Atomic Energy Commission and not under the Department of Energy.”
And I agree with that.
I hope Perry gets elected and some of the first things he will do is exactly to look at all the useless, in fact, damaging, government departments to cut.
It seems the first things everone wants to cut is defense, when in fact that is one of the few things that should be well funded and it’s one of the few things the Federal Gov indeed should be doing.

RICK PERRY:
FIRST: "Don't spend all the money!"
SECOND: "Have a fair and predictable tax and regulatory policy!"
THIRD: "Have a legal system that doesn't allow for over suing and make loser pay!"
Yep, target rich environment.
Just came across this:
Perry names Rush Limbaugh “honorary Texan”.

I’m comfortable with Perry, Bachmann, or Cain.
Romney is not the best choice.
Paul has serious issues with respect to foreign policy although conceptually I believe we should only get involved in conflicts where our own best interests or those of a close ally are involved.
Pawlenty, Huntsmen, Christie, need to weeded out of the running.
Perry has his warts, but he sounds more Reaganesque than the other candidates, with the possible exception of Sarah Palin. As a candidate against The Obastard, I think Perry is the more formidable (I like Sarah, but the DNC propaganda wing — i.e., the MSM — has done such a hit job on her that I think it would be hard for her to carry enough states to get the requisite 270 EVs).
I mentioned that to someone I know who is a hardcore lefty, who adores big government (the bigger, the better), who is a parasite on the tax-payer, and who has a visceral hatred of conservatives and business (predictably, he is from Wisconsin). When I told him that if the SSA gave me back all I had put in to SS, in one lump sum, I’d even waive any interest, and I would call it even, he hit the roof, yelling: “It’s not your money!” Typical Rat bastard.
