Palin: Could I Support Somebody Like Mitt Romney? Yeah
DES MOINES, Iowa 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said Friday that she still hasnt decided if shes going to run for president. Palin is also undecided about whom she would endorse if she ultimately decided against entering the race. Swarmed by media and supporters at the Iowa State Fair, the former governor of Alaska told The Daily Caller that shes not concerned that Mitt Romney is considered the frontrunner at this time. No, nothing worries me at this point, Palin told TheDC. Could I support somebody like Mitt Romney? Yeah. When TheDC pointed out that some tea partiers have pledged to make sure Romney doesnt get the nomination, Palin said, Im of the mind of ABO Anybody But Obama, at this time.
I’m just about done with Palin. It was nice while it lasted.
Yeah but don’t you think there’s a little bit of a difference between saying something that could be construed as positive about Romney and arguing all out for the re-election of Barack Obama?
Hoot hoot hoot zot him! zot him! zot him! hoot hoot hoot!
What does she need to do to not have you done with her?
Bush 2000 was the real eye opener for me. The old 96 crowd would hint at some very interesting views management held of Bush Senior, and GW was treated like the most reprehensible RINO imaginable. Then, magically, he was the darling of dance. This phenomenon happens now and then, I guess. I was one of the first people to bring up that the Iraq war wasn't working (from Iraq, at the time) and needed a change of perspective. I got called every name in the book, but a year later, we had the surge, and suddenly, rethinking our strategy was a wonderful idea, not defeatist claptrap.
So, Sarah is now the cause de jour. I like Sarah, so this is a hard topic for me. She has some amazing good points, and some amazing weaknesses, but you really can't discuss either without the conversation jumping the rails of reality. Just because she's popular here doesn't mean she wouldn't wind up like Goldwater, McGovern or Mondale in a general election. Maybe she'd do better, but it's a rational political concern to raise. Do you go for the Hail Mary with a rock ribbed, half term quitter, or first down with a squishy, careerist snake oil salesman who reliably closes the deal?
BARGLE! PDS SNARRF TROLL1!!1!
Sorry, it's sad, but that's reality. Our options suck. People gotta deal with it.
I don't know what management's view of Perry is, but I doubt it will come to much. The guy seems pro-life, pro-gun, pro-business, and generally a better version of Bush without the daddy issues. Yeah, he's got a black mark or two, but anyone with a real track record does. People who are looking for perfect are living under the wrong system of government. That's reality. We get as much as we can, or risk getting 100% of what we don't.
Could I vote for Romney if I had to? Yeah.
Would he be my first choice? No.
At some point, when and if she runs, if she wins, she will probably want the other candidates and their supporters to support her. It’s probably going to be easier to get that done if she says stuff like this than if she speaks ill of them. And it works the other way around. If one of these other candidates wins, they’re probably going to want to at least try to get Palin and her supporters to support them. Which will be a lot easier if the other candidates and their senior staffers refrain from speaking ill of her. I think she gets that. I’m not entirely sure everybody else does.
IIRC Reagan wasn’t a name-caller. Why don’t you go read up on your sacred hero, and show your reverance by emulating him?
That is a very disturbing image. Why did you have to do that to us?
“It’s only make believe...” LOL!
oy...
I disagree with your characterization of Palin supporters on FR. Sure, you'll see some of us giving as good as we get, but we're on defense here. We don't go looking for fights with Palin detractors.
Perhaps you hadn't noticed, but we didn't start the war you're talking about. Apparently, we committed the grievous crime of expressing our sincere enthusiasm for a politician who comes closer to the definition of an ideal conservative than anyone we've seen since Reagan. Sadly, there are some people who simply get set on edge about that, and react in an anti-social manner.
So much so, that they habitually haunt the Palin threads, angrily trying to convince her supporters that they've completely misjudged her, and that she's an unworthy, phony, money-motivated, unintelligent, air-headed, RINO supporting hick, who "quit her job" and "can't run for president because she's not going to run for president."
Excuse us if we just happen to get a little offended by such attacks, and have the temerity to actually fight back.
Oh, I somehow doubt that it was an accident that Drapes posted the more sensational and less true version of the story.
We’re all ABO.
With all the harm that Obama has done to this country and with all the harm he wants to do ....
How can you even make such a statement? We don’t want a rino and I don’t think we’ll get one, but to say any pubbie or almost anyone in the known universe wouldn’t be better than Obama is just silly venting.
If you two aren’t just the cutest couple....

You spead s**t around and then complain because it stinks.
You’re up to your old tricks, trying to stir up trouble and get a lot of people to post to you.
You know, match.com has a cure for loneliness, or so they say.
Very good post, I hope it sinks in.
Many here like pushing the PDS commenters vile posts over on the Palin supporters.
Palin, Bachmann, Cain or even Perry would all be excellent alternatives to Obama the commie. Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!

Howdy everyone!!
Are you ready for a FReepathon?!
Well, we're expecting a great quarter. The presidential race is heating up. We now have conservatives Bachmann and Cain officially in the race fending off RINO Romney; and Palin and Perry could possibly jump in. My hopes are with Palin, but if she decides not to run I could be happy with Bachmann or Cain. Also, if Palin does not run but Perry does, he'd probably suck all the air out of the race. Either way, Palin, Bachmann, Cain or even Perry would all be excellent alternatives to Obama the commie. Anyone but RINO Romney the big government chief architect of CommieCare!

Why don't you explain your comment?
Ever had the media put you on the defensive because they intentionally misquote you or lie by omission? That's what the OP ('ejdrapes') did with the title on this thread. It's a totally Hades technique. Looks like you're pretty good at it too.
I worked in a TV newsroom for years so I have witnessed this kind of behavior from journalists time and time again. The good ones are those who can report on events and give straightforward facts. I wonder what Thomas Sowell would have to say about it, don't you?
That may be true of you. But, we have some of Palin's supporters going so far as to defend the destructive oil tax she passed in Alaska, something the current Republican governor and House are trying repeal. So, if she can influence some of her followers to support that, it doesn't take much imagination to think she could influence some to support Romney.
