Pregnant Pacifica woman killed by family pit bull

PACIFICA -- A pregnant Pacifica woman was found dead by her husband today after an apparent attack by a family pit bull, police said.

The 32-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, was killed in her home on the 500 block of Reina del Mar, said Capt. Dave Bertini, a Pacifica police spokesman.

The woman's husband told police that he had arrived home from work around noon and found one of the couple's two pit bulls standing over his wife's body. He was able to get the dog into the backyard before police arrived a few moments later.

Attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the investigation was under way, Bertini said, the dog got loose from the yard and charged at officers who were stationed outside. They fired three shots at the pit bull, killing it.

I expected a reply just like the one you sent. When some people are confronted by data they don't like then they immediately disparage the data. Gee do we know anyone else like that? Are his initials BO by any chance?

My sister is an animal control officer. So she deals with the situation all the time. She has told me that they have special training to deal with Pits and Rotts. Pit Bulls are in fact the most dangerous of the popular dog breeds in the United States. There is simply no question about that. The data is unassailable. If you check the website, you will notice that the data is carefully footnoted. Much of the data comes from the CDC.

In the dog park that I frequent, a huge and disproportionate amount of the trouble is due to Pit Bulls. I've seen the unprovoked attacks on other dogs. We've had bad injuries. You simply are in denial. And that can be a very dangerous place to be.

I have young kids and the punk teenagers keep them to look cool around girls. I keep my 9mm with hollow points, just to make sure Doggy takes a dirt nap if he gets frisky.

They are very fortunate that no one was hurt. Had one hair of anybody’s head been harmed, I don’t know what I would do. It was by the Grace of God that no one was harmed. One of the grandchildren in the group is autistic, and my daughter was being as protective of him as she was of her poodle.

A chow chow mix jumped on a friend recently and bit her hand. She has a nasty sore where the dog’s paw landing on her thigh and a sore hand. She had to get doctor’s care and a tetanus shot. Yeah, chows, chihuahuas, and pit bulls are the worst.

Did you know the American Academy of pediatrics estimates that a child dies from choking on food *every five days?*
That’s 365 dead in that same five years; not a huge risk, but greater than that of getting eaten by a pit bull. What are you doing to keep your kids safe from the hot dog threat?

Please don't misquote me. These are NOT MY Statistics. They are data from very reputable sources. I didn't compile the data. You analogy about more people choking and dying from food than are killed by Pit Bulls is pathetic. That's about like saying more people are killed in traffic accidents than are murdered, so why are we so concerned about murder in our society.
