Obama’s laughing tonight, we need to do much better than this pathetic lineup of candidates!

Ok genius. Please enlighten us with your “better” candidates. I thought most of them came across more presidential than "The Chosen One".

Perry was quoted at the official Ismaili website as saying at the signing ceremony that...

“traditional Western education speaks little of the influence of Muslim scientists, scholars, throughout history, and for that matter the cultural treasures that stand today in testament to their wisdom.”

Sounds like Obamanese to me!!

I like Cain, but he scares the Crap out of me. Sometimes he seems unprepared and like he doesn’t really have an answer so he wings it. I would just worry about major gaffes that would blow the election with him. Kind of like his Islam and Mormon remarks. People may agree with him, but they are fodder for the media to destroy him. Sadly, I do think he would put the best interests of the country first and not care about political correctness. But we could end up with another BHO term.

Ron Paul a winner? He peaked at maybe 5% in 2008. Now he's a joke. And still a surrender monkey. His supporters may spam and win this straw poll but it's wasted energy. Maybe he can get the Moonbat Party nomination but never the Republican Party.

It is interesting that you screenname on here is takenoprisoner...because, it doesn’t fit the guy you support. You logic and argument is completely inane. He didn’t create the Tea Party. It was the guy from CNBC. He claims he is the Ta Party, but the Tea Party doesn’t claim him (on the contrary, their preferred candidates are Bachmann and Cain). You argue, albeit poorly, about his foreign policy, but even if these guys were from Saudi, RP would have done NOTHING to defend this country from terrorists. His stance on Iran last night was a good measure of this...and he was PASTED. Did you notice that the only GUY cheering was in the back...and in every debate, the Ronulans have one cheering section. Your other assessments about Rammadan, etc, are just irresponsible. Nobody suggested Paul did any of these things...it is a pathetic attempt by you to skew the argument, like a good Paulie. What I did say, however, is that we can’t trust a man who claims to support the Constitution while fighting to give TERRORISTS Miranda rights! Nice try...how is your kool-aid tasting?

that’s about what I thought....

1. Newt. (even though a flawed candidate for personal morality issues, hope he stays in race to sharpen other candidates, by far best answers of night)
2. Santorum (Great answers solid candidate through -— needs to show more command and not so frustration over media time)
3. Cain (could add some quotes/statistics related to competing for capital investment when talking about 0% capital gains rate )
4. Bachmann (stay above the fray and avoid TPaw, needs to loosen up a bit and avoid being robotic, could add some interesting quotes (i.e. Newt/Santorum) and avoid repeating self)
5. Huntsman (absolutely nothing fresh, totally boring, did nothing, pat answers)
6. Romney (Completely flawed candidate based record in Mass—pro-abortion, severely overreaching government, tone is arrogant, speaks out of two sdies of his mouth/contradicts himself, pat answers )
7. Paul — comes across as a crazy, gouchy, grandpa. Some of his ideas strike a cord w/ libertarian crowd, but he misses the boat......( i.e. one could say that we should work hard to avoid foreign entanglements, while still acknowledging the Iranian threat, would be so much better)
8. Pawlenty— (Tone is completely wrong, going after Bachmann showed he is a complete ***. He’s done.)
9. Fox News Moderators. stupid snear-ky dumb questions. Absolutely horrible. The founding fathers would be appalled at the stupid sound-bite politics. The media should promote real statesmanship and scholarship....

-"I didn’t post the original quote, btw. I like Sarah a lot, but being out and among all kinds of people every day (not just conservatives like me), I recognize that it will be a problem getting the cross-section necessary to win. I hear all the comments and strong reactions to her, unfortunately. Just sayin’ the way it is out there."

No question what you say is real out there, and I agree, that it's not going to be easy. But, what is 'easy' that is 'worth fighting for'?

Sarah Palin has the MOST BACKBONE of any candidate out there now. To weigh support for a candidate based on a 'perceived' ability to win over people who hate her - when those people have not taken the time, nor been given the opportunity to know the real Sarah Palin, is to me, a self-defeating proposition that allows others to make up your own mind for you.

For the most part I agree with what you wrote. Bachmann for sure can stay away from TPaw because like you said, he is done. That being said, Bachmann did not show me she can handle an attack very well and TPaw was nothing compared to what Obama and company will do to her.

Cain is out and has been for some time. He has absolutely no chance of gaining the nomination.

I left Iran March 31, 1979. I was in the Embassy when it was overrun the first time on February 14. Iran is the center of the radical Islamic fundamentalist movement. Until it is eliminated there, we will continue to have global Islamic terrorism, most of it funded and fomented by Iran.

Criticizing the panel tonight for asking tough questions is just absurd, and I’m somewhat disappointed in FReepers who wanted this to be some softball contest.

We’re trying to pick a strong nominee, for crying out loud. Sweetness and light, pantywaist questions, and handling politicians with kid gloves won’t get rid of Barack Obama next year.

This was, hands-down, the best debate I’ve seen in a long time — and I watch them all. I thought FOX did a good job.

Anyone running for POTUS needs to be able to answer anything thrown at him.

Yes, Newt, that means you. The whining about “gotcha” questions just came off to the astute watcher as sniveling. You are not running for dogcatcher.

Gingrich is good for the race, but he needs to drop the attitude. His answers to other questions were excellent.

He showed the others how it’s done...now he needs to get out of the way and let someone who is actually electable do their job.

He could be an awesome consultant in this life or death contest for America!...just not the candidate....

Tim P and Romney are no longer Governors! Newt had the class to refer to her as Gov Palin

“To the order of” is blank.

It's made out to Urkel, isn't it?

That's how it becomes part of his stash to divvy up.

I would’ve preferred an answer more along the lines of, “I voted against the budget deal because it gave President Urkel 2.4 trillion dollars to dole out to his Union buds who would then launder it and return it to DemocRAT candidates while we got a ‘promise’ to spend less money over the next 10 years than we previously said we would and would not be bound to honor starting with the next Congress. I mean, what the hell....”

Commentariat today are all talking about the Bachmann/Pawlenty dust up...really stupid..all inside baseball ( MN politics) stuff..it demeaned them both.

Bachman did NOT match her first performance, and Pawlenty doesn't have it...he can't excite the base..

However, ther GOP DOES have a serious problem..it's Ron Paul..he's nuts..his comments about Iran should have had him frogmarched off the stage..lord help us if he wins this thing..

It may be time to read him out of the GOP...if he hangs around for the later debates..when he's one of 3-4 left onstage, it's going to be a disaster,,
