While Texas Gov. Rick Perry has made no formal announcement, he told Time magazine in an interview he wants to run for president.
"I mean I wouldn't be this far into the process. The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," Perry said. "Prior to that, no.
Being the president of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."
Perry added he has a "calmness" in his heart about running.

Will likely be on FNC site soon.
He has my vote!
EXCLUSIVE: Top Aide to Rick Perry Tells Fox News the Texas Governor Will Enter GOP Presidential Race
Excerpt:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry will make "a definitive announcement that he is in the 2012 race for the presidency Saturday," aides told Fox News.
The language is significant. For several days the Perry camp has said he would signal his intentions and announce later.
"This is it," the sources explain. No exploratory committee, no more deliberation.
Works for me. Palin is still my number one and I await her words on the subject, but if she bows out then Perry is my candidate for the Republican nomination for President.
(I even think it’s possible Palin will endorse Perry this weekend.)
so, this is Perry’s pre-announcement announcement?
He has mine too!! I’m really looking forward to Saturday and hope they show him in SC somewhere live. I’m guessing the networks may carry it since he will be announcing then?
She will back him if she’s not running herself. Personally I think both of them are coordinating on this.
Not really a huge fan of Perry at this point but willing to give him a listen to. I’ve looked into his record and there are a few things that give me pause. Right now I am backing in order;
1. Bachmann/Cain
2. Palin
3. Santorum
4. Paul
5. Perry.
I expect, if he has answers to certain policy misteps in his history, I’ll move him up on my short-list.
LOL!
Seem to be in vogue this year. I don’t think anyone has just gotten on camera and said, “I’m in!”
Ditto on both of those thoughts.
Hallelujah! A Christian, Air Force Veteran and Governor from Texas! Does it get any better?
ALL YOUR POTUS ARE BELONG TO PERRY
Yeah ditto!
*snip*
Im kind of getting into the all-in point and the idea that this is what Im supposed to be doing. This is starting to get to that comfort level. Ive got the calmness in my heart.
I think that was a bit of a hurdle initially. But you know, Im very calm in my heart that this is what Im supposed to be doing.
Perry, who assumed the Texas governorship after George W. Bush became president, said he reached out to Bush for advice in early July.
Actually I called him on his birthday on July the sixth to wish him a happy birthday. He said — youll do whats right. You dont want to wake up when youre 70 and go I wish I would have tried that. I wish I had done that.
Perry said he is not intimidated by any part of running for president and believes he will be successful in fundraising enough money to challenge President Obama.

We basically had that already. History repeating itself.
And he can shoot!
(I even think its possible Palin will endorse Perry this weekend.)”
Wow.
If THAT happens, this is gonna be a short, uninteresting primary season!
(What if Giuliani endorsed simultaneously? Now that wouldn’t go over well here, obviously, but, for the GOP establishment types, it would be strong. If Perry announces and is flanked by Palin and Giuliani....well, mittens is gonna have a crapper!)
all that said...I don’t think Palin will endorse him this early.
I think that’s what’s going on, Perry/Palin coordination. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But that’s what I think. I’ve thought it and posted my thoughts here for weeks now.
I agree, best chance to beat Obama.....Palin runs for kyl senate seat in AZ. she’s got plenty of time......
