Allen West winces at Dinerstein remarks, explains budget vote

U.S. Rep. Allen West visibly winced when Sid Dinerstein, chairman of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County, introduced him to speak before members of the Republican Executive Committee on Wednesday night.

In a dramatic introduction that began, “He may all by himself just have saved Western civilization,” Dinerstein followed with, “The first nationally recognized House figure that publicly said ‘I’m in’ was Congressman Allen West. And that was not just one vote, because Allen is the de facto leader of the freshman Republicans in Washington. "

West was addressing the REC to explain his recent vote on the debt ceiling compromise, which has had many of his supporters criticizing and questioning him. He explained the decision as a sound one that had to be made in order to keep the federal government from shutting down, and he referenced his military background when describing a strategy that puts swift action above perfection in a plan.

Mr West has made a few “Questionable” Votes, he has a lot of explaining to do! Or the Bonehead made him a offer?

Another “Politician” that knows he is smarter than those that elected him. Please continue to educate me Mr. West. I am just a stupid voter expecting a “Politician” to keep his word. Stupid me.

The man was talking with a pigfoot in his mouth. The man seems to just wish to be considered a bit slow.

Lost a lot of respect and support.

No one sent these people there as a free agent.

This thread is VERY MISLEADING.

The speaker says that West is the defacto leader of the freshmen Republicans.
And West winces. He's being honest and humble.

This thread made me think that West was wincing because his vote embarassed him.

I like West. I disagree with his vote. I don't think he's wincing because of his vote. He's standing by what he thought was right. Not apologizing or wincing afterwards.

Mr. West simply needs some knowledge and advice from the right people. His heart and intent are in the right place. But when DC/Wall Street power players start the bamboozle, it can be mystifying.

it’s not misleading. it’s a compound headline. if you watch the video of West’s speech you will see that West spoke mostly about his budget vote.

“Ronald Reagan hizzelf would be crucified over the political purity tests today.”

BS, Ronald Reagan shut down the government on several occasions. He refused to sign the (D)Congress’s budgets until they reduced spending.
