Thieves who aren't afraid of a little heavy lifting made off with more than $7,000 worth of galvanized stainless steel.

The theft happened overnight Tuesday at H3 Steel in Peoria.

The items reported stolen Wednesday included a 1,000-pound staircase that was taken from a flatbed trailer, according to a report.

In a macabre sort of way, I kind of enjoy seeing all of these stories about thieves stealing things like staircases, copper wiring and even postal mail boxes. Of course, living in the Los Angeles area, we see illegals stealing stuff every day.

I in no way endorse this type of criminal activity, but I think I enjoy the fact that the government elites are the ones who have helped contribute to this problem and are often powerless to stop these thieves who keep coming up with new ideas on what to steal.

That IS gratifying----knowing sap-happy lib/prog pols created the environment for this criminal free-for-all.

ANALYSIS We see in London the savage effects of "diversity" and political correctness, amid the destruction of Western civilization.

Fundamental conventions were smashed by a liberal intelligentsia hell-bent on a revolutionary transformation of society.

We'll pay a price for the eradication of marriage, the two-parent family, employment and educational meritocracy, failure to enforce drug laws and other criminal laws designed to maintain the stability of a society.......

Sap-happy liberals' empowering misfits has led to chaos......in London and around the world.

What is most evident here is the looters and pillagers' "sense of entitlement" ...... that they are entitled to the proceeds of other peoples' work and labor.

Seeing these savages in action, makes it understandable why civilized societies kept these savages subjugated. They simply do not know how to behave in a civilized world.

My thought exactly, why would you galvanize stainless steel?

Did that start with Prince Charles (not that intelligent would normal be paired with his name) with his coddling and twaddling of all things Islamic?

"lib/prog pols created the environment for this criminal free-for-all."

That would make a great tag-line!

"Coming up with new ideas on what to steal"? That sounds like what half the government is doing anyway. Whether it is some punk stealing your staircase or the NLRB telling Boeing they can't start production in their new factory, the entitlement mindset is the same.

“why would you galvanize stainless steel?”

Well,,,, the stainless steel fronts on my Frigidaire appliances are rusting! They probably got it from someplace like Sri Lanka! Maybe they should have galvanized it!

“galvanized stainless steel”

Yet again proof that journalism majors are barely a rung above elementary education majors on the intelligence ladder. A pox upon the editor!!!

If they are rusting, it’s not stainless steel!

Amazing isn’t it! “galvanized stainless steel” just jumped out at a number of us, but neither the reporter nor his editor has a clue.

“If they are rusting, it’s not stainless steel!”

They’re brushed stainless. Just cr@ppy stainless, with impurities. Rusting in streaks, not all over. I used to work in a sheet metal shop.

If stainless steel is handled with carbon steel tools, the residue of the carbon steel can be impregnated into the SS and will rust, streaking the stainless and making it appear to be rusting.
All stainless has to be handled with non-carbon steel tools and equipment. (including your SS refrigerator door)

You need to passivate your stainless. Small amounts of iron are probably rolled into the surface. Use a mild acid to remove them.
