Would it be too much to ask President Obama to at least pretend to be "presidential" for at least a week? A day even?
We've gone from the tradition of George Washington, the reluctant candidate, to Obama, the candidate who will "kill" to be reelected.
There are reports today that the Obama camp is throwing in the towel; giving up even pretending that the President deserves re-election based upon his record.
Now, according to Politico.com, "the candidate who ran on 'hope' in 2008 has little choice four years later but to run a slashing, personal campaign aimed at disqualifying his likeliest opponent."
The target of the attack will be Mitt Romney, the front-runner Republican candidate the White House expects to be Obama's opponent. With fifteen months still to go before the election, and nearly a year until a Republican nominee is officially selected, it is a remarkably early admission of desperation at the White House.
The Politico article quotes a "prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House" as confessing that, "Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney."
There are 27 million Americans unemployed, under employed, or that have completely given up even trying to find a job and have left the work force. The economy is in the tank. The full faith and credit of the U.S. Treasury suffered its first downgrade since 1917 that sparked near panic on Wall Street and capital markets across the planet.
And, what do we get from the President? Slash-and-burn campaigning.
"It is disgraceful that President Obama's campaign has launched his re-election with the stated goal to 'kill' his opponent with an onslaught of negative and personal attacks," said a spokesman for Romney according to CBS News. "President Obama will say and do desperate things to hold onto power because he knows he has failed. Neither despicable threats, nor President Obama's billion dollar negative campaign, will put Americans back to work, save their homes, or restore their hopes. On November 6, 2012, this will change."
Reports say that president's team is going to go after Romney's Mormon religious affilation, his connection with turnaround specialist Bain Capital, painting Romney as "weird."
Obviously, the only job Obama is concerned about is his own.
And this will be somehow unique or different from all Democrat campaigns? Ad Hominem, demoization, hysteria - that's what the Dems do.
Demonic
Romney needs to go...let zer0 waste energy on Romney...of all the contenders he is currently the only (viable) Republican candidate I will vote 3rd party against in November...
if romney wins the primaries I will work with the various ‘teas’ to form a real party...
Gee I wonder if Zero will attack Romneycare?
Because all I know is if we used this kind of violent rhetoric against that simple-minded mulatto in the White House, somebody'd be getting investigated.
politico is an *active* propaganda arm of the white house. read this as obvious reverse psychology, wanting R’s to pick romney. i’m not buying.
This is why I said to take anything from Politico with a grain of salt
Good!
Anything that gets rid of Myth “Finger-In-The-Wind” Romney politically is good for the GOP and good for America.
Go for it. Especially during the Primary. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
It is the lame stream media who is trying to tell us who to vote for. Never must we make the same mistake. On the other hand we have to unite and support the nominee whoever he or she will be. Otherwise that arrogant pos will be reelected
THEY are MAKING Mitt the CANDIDATE for the GOP....don’t fall for it!
Zer0: RomneyCare is so inhumane. It demands that people make co-pays for abortions, sex changes and substance abuse treatment. This will discourage people from seeking these necessary procedures.
Romney: ObamaCare is even worse. It gives everything to everybody and can't be reformed at the state level. It will drive the whole country into bankruptcy whereas my plan only does it a state at a time.
Kill Romney?
Isn’t that a little harsh, Barack?
Kneecap him first, as a warning,,, Isn’t that the Chicago- Union Way?.
Not that he is much of a threat to you anyway. No one would split the Republican party as much as he.
Civility and all.....at least they didn’t mention crosshairs
The psycho left is desperate to keep Romney in the headlines. We all know he'll finish below the stoner from New Mexico in the straw poll. He'll do well in New Hampshire, bad in South Carolina and most likely bad every where else.
Obama's thugs know that Romney is a guarantee 4 more years of Obama. So they want to do everything possible to keep him relevant.
We won't be fooled though.
