GILBERT - Arizona Sen. John McCain held a town hall in Gilbert this morning and the economy took center stage.
The town hall was focused on the nations' economic troubles and McCain said the on-going financial problems would be much greater had Congress not passed a bill to keep the country from defaulting on its debt.
McCain said he is very concerned with the recent S&P downgrade of the United States' credit rating and views it as a wake-up call to the nation.
"It will cost more to borrow money and it is a very serious situation," McCain said.
McCain also expressed his disapproval of certain Tea Party members who demanded that Congress pass a balanced budget amendment before they would act on the debt ceiling before the deadline.
"It's unrealistic and unfair to the American people to tell them that we have to pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution before we would act," McCain said.
The Tea Party has taken offense with McCain, who recently was quoted in a Wall Street Journal editorial calling Tea Party members hobbits. Many people in the audience came to the town hall to express their anger at McCain's comments and ask for an apology.
McCain refused to apologize to Tea Party members.
"I am sorry if it was misunderstood. I am not sorry for what I said," McCain said. "I mean, why should I when it's a fact? But if it was misunderstood, I'm sorry."
FUJM!!!
Love to see some dressed as Hobbits showing up.
someone ask him if he fears an obama presidency yet..
McCain is approaching the end of his usefulness to anybody.
Hobbits are cool and virtuous. McCain is ignorant.
Who in the heck keeps reelecting McCain? He has even gone way beyond being merely a RINO and should do what Arlen Specter did, just become a Dem.
Anyone who attends a McCain town hall meeting at this point deserves the pain and frustration this turd brings them. He should be ignored outright.
And this is the thanks Sarah gets for backing him in the primaries? She needs to take him off her website as “supportive”. Then take him to the woodshed.
McCain is a moron. I’ve been around him in AZ and in Texas. He won’t change what he is saying even if you disprove what he says with facts and figures to his face. He is a weird old fart and needs to get himself a bowl of Viagra, go back to AZ and hit the old lady until he keels over. The keeling part should happpen pretty soon....
I don't think he would have won the primary if Sarah hadn't endorsed him and endorsed JD instead.
No! You are just plain SORRY!
Who gave this senile old coot the label “Maverick?” Does anyone know if it was the MSM?
Hobbits, if you’ve read the books, is actually a fitting complement. Hobbits basically had no government but all lived in a perfectly capitalist system and lived within the bounds of common decency. When Saruman the White was freed from Isengard, and even before that, he worked to enslave the Hobbits, out of revenge, by imposing heavy handed and SOCIALIST government on them. Instead of keeping the fruits of their labor he forced them to bring it to him and his thugs for distribution (hardly any of it made it back to the Hobbits). The Hobbits, though not given to passions and being disinclined to confrontation, were roused and dealt severely with their oppressors at the Battle of Bywater.
If the Battle of Bywater is replicated in the US, you can bet that McCain will fill the role of Wormtongue.
That’s unfortunate. I guess she felt she had to be loyal, but sometimes, ya know...
You idiot, McCain, the Hobbits are the good guys.
You were a good guy once, but you grabbed the ring of power, and it turned you into a worthless scumbag.
It is amazing how well he fits the role of Wormtongue.
He's still useful to Soros and anyone in the Political Class who would like to see us reduced to serfs while they become the new "Royals".
