INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who barricaded himself in a hotel on Indianapolis' northeast side after running from police and injuring an officer was taken into custody Monday evening, police said.

An officer tried to stop a black Mercedes Benz in the 4300 block of North Franklin Road just after 3 p.m., but the driver refused to stop, police said.

The officer chased the vehicle, reaching speeds of 100 mph, into the parking lot of the Value Place hotel in the 9500 block of Pendleton Pike, where the Mercedes crashed into a flatbed trailer, police said...

Scary situation, but it could have been a whole lot worse, apparently. The perp apparently opened fire on some bystanders, but he missed and his weapon ultimately misfired.

What a dirtbag, though. Yeesh.

As soon as I saw Mercedes-Benz, I was able to identify the perp's persuasion - and I was right!

This stuff was going on 50 years ago ~ back in my old neighborhood. The only difference is the caliber and color of the perp.

Those Hillbillies would get loose from jail and go running out Pendleton Pike to hit a beer joint ~ usually Bob's Silver Dollar Bar just about North Ritter ~ get drunk, and then go shoot up truckers at Rodeway, et al on Shadeland.

This is 46218 ~ not Beverly Hills, 90210.

Franklin Road (mentioned in the article) was once deemed the road with the most potholes in Marion County. By winning that title the folks in charge of such things agreed to pave it.

I love those cop chases on TV where the announcer says” The perp just ran through that stop sign (red light) ,disregarding the danger to other people’s lives, and then the cop car barges through the same intersection, but that’s ok, because he is a trained professional. LOL

That’s just the kind of prejudice the world expects from you people in Morgan County. You automatically assume the perp is black just beacause his name is ... oh, wait, never mind.
