Despite what a major ratings house indicated today, U.S. Rep. Joseph Courtney says the United States, "is still a Triple-A Nation.''
Standard & Poor's today downgraded the U.S. Government's long-term investment rating to AA-plus, a demotion from the typical AAA status.

President Obama has defended the government. Courtney, a 2nd District Democrat and a Vernon resident, echoed the President's sentiments in a statement released today.
“As I stated on the floor of the House of Representatives two weeks ago, a comprehensive package of deficit reduction was needed to avoid not only default, but downgrade. I agree with the President that the United States is still a triple-A nation, and we need to build on that strength to rescue its future,'' Courtney said.

People in CT must be abysmally stupid to elect such a putz to represent them.
Dave Ramsey, the financial guru, asked presciently last week, “If someone spends $375,000 a year, while making $55,000, what should his credit rating be? That is the proportion of spending to income of our federal government.” Any doofus, with the exception of a Democrat congressman, ought to be able to answer that one.

Of course given our Government (Federal and most States ... certainly Caly-fornia) ... I think I'd give us a Zimbabwe-esque D rating. Anyone who can't balance a budget after all these years; and anyone who defines a 'cut' as a smaller increase than they wanted ... deserves a D or F rating...
Only God can save us from the fools running this ship... And I think He sends us these fools as an important reminder:

I see many Americans who follow the triple-A rule ...

Our government is worthless at the moment, but Americans can change that if they have the will.

It would appear that Joseph Courtney deserves an AA rating.
