Jesse Jackson on Obama

'Some Layer of the Excitement is Gone'

In an interview with SPIEGEL, civil rights activist and Baptist minister Jesse Jackson discusses Black America's frustration with Barack Obama and the president's failure to anticipate the Republicans' tenacious will to 'destroy' him.

SPIEGEL: When was the last time you spoke to President Barack Obama?

Jackson: It has been a while.

SPIEGEL: But you were one of his early mentors in Chicago and the picture of your public tears in Chicago's Grant Park after his election victory in 2008 went around the globe. How would you describe your current feelings about his presidency?

Jackson: At that moment in Grant Park, we were finally winning, but I was reflecting on the long journey, the many years of struggle for civil rights. Obama ran the last lap of a 60-year campaign. I thought of all the bruises we endured during this campaign and I thought of Dr. Martin Luther King and wished he had been there just for 20 seconds to see how 60 years of struggle suddenly paid off. Sure, some layer of the excitement of that night is gone.

SPIEGEL: Is it true that even among African-Americans Obama's standing has suffered?

Jackson: We blacks were the first people embracing Obama, long before the people at expensive fundraisers were supporting him. We gave him his first love, 96 percent of blacks voted for him in 2008. Yet today we are the number one in unemployment, with 16 percent of American blacks out of work. We are number one in foreclosure, number one in short life expectancy, in loan default. Big banks steered their toxic products

"We blacks were the first people embracing Obama, long before the people at expensive fundraisers were supporting him."

And Republicans were supporting blacks long before Democrats started the great con that you still buy into this day Jesse.

>SPIEGEL: Is it true that even among African-Americans Obama’s standing has suffered? <

lemme see..

Today, I picked up my best bud from Worksource for lunch. Across his hallway before lunchtime, a long line of black people were lined up CA’s FREE electricity to poor minorities courtesy of the state of Southern edison.

We walk by Pershing (subway) Station in downtown L.A. back from lunch and lots of black people with their shirts off were blocking the subway entrance and harassing the subway riders.

is this even a trick question?

So, I’m unclear here, does Jesse now advocate sewing 0bamas’ balls back on?

Big banks steered their toxic products toward minorities and Congress did not oversee them properly

Hey "Reverend", it was Congress - Barney Frank, Barack Obama et al - that FORCED the banks to "steer those toxic products toward minorities", i.e. hand out no-money-down loans your folks could not repay. And it was YOU, Rev, with your race-baiting crusade against "red-lining" as far back as the 70's, that got that ball rolling.

The gall of this lying POS.

My question is why is Jaaaaaaackson saying this in the German magazine or is it in the catalog? Maybe afraid to twitch some people’s dander in this country?

the Republicans' tenacious will to 'destroy' him

It has nothing to do with tenacity Jesse: it has everything to do with being right about who, or what, Obama is.

I wonder if Jackson and other “Black Leaders” know that it was White people that created the NAACP - didn’t think so.

Obama is not an African-American he is Bi-Racial, who hates his white half. He does not have “slave” blood in his ancestry. He was born with a silver spoon in his muslim mouth. He has never lived a life of deprivation or want. He has never lived in a prejudiced enviroment.

He could give a sh*t, about the plight of Americans of African descent.

More importantly the majority, if not all were Republicans. It was only during the Kennedy presidency that the plantation began to form around the Democratic Party, which until that time was “Jim Crow” especially in the south.

Reminder Obama could not have the middle name he has, unless his ancestors were Muslim slave traders in Kenya. I have never understood how Blacks could embrace a “religion” that made their ancestors slaves. White men didn't go in land to retrieve slaves. They had to be brought to the coast, and in most cases the transportation was by Muslim slave traders.
