WATERLOO, Iowa --- In her first return to her birthplace since announcing her campaign, Republican president candidate Michele Bachmann the country's credit downgrade by Standard and Poor's "a reckoning" for President Obama and Washington.
The downgrade and stock market losses at the end of the week were signs she was right to reject raising the debt ceiling and instead push for large spending cuts, Bachmann told a crowd of about 100 people Saturday at the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum.
"Someone had to stand up and say no, someone had to stand up and stay stop, and that's exactly what I did," Bachmann said. "I stood up and said no, I stood up and said stop and I said no more."

She focused much of her time on criticizing President Obama's handling of the economy and accusing Congress of giving him a "blank check" instead of tackling the deficit when they approved the $2.4 trillion debt ceiling hike.
"President Barack Obama has done more than put this nation in the ditch, he's thrown out the clutch," she said.

Yes, anyone CAN give a speech. Few can make one with the words of Bachmann and have it be true.
Certainly not a single one of the governors, currently unseated politicians and business folk in the race can say those words in truth.
