WATERLOO, Iowa --- In her first return to her birthplace since announcing her campaign, Republican president candidate Michele Bachmann the country's credit downgrade by Standard and Poor's "a reckoning" for President Obama and Washington.

The downgrade and stock market losses at the end of the week were signs she was right to reject raising the debt ceiling and instead push for large spending cuts, Bachmann told a crowd of about 100 people Saturday at the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum.

"Someone had to stand up and say no, someone had to stand up and stay stop, and that's exactly what I did," Bachmann said. "I stood up and said no, I stood up and said stop and I said no more."

She focused much of her time on criticizing President Obama's handling of the economy and accusing Congress of giving him a "blank check" instead of tackling the deficit when they approved the $2.4 trillion debt ceiling hike.

"President Barack Obama has done more than put this nation in the ditch, he's thrown out the clutch," she said.

Bush told us “Mission accomplished”, but Obama told us “We’re in economic recovery.” Obama lied.

I’m learning I could vote for Bachmann.

No problem at all. She says what she believes, and stands on principle.

Can we get a bit more of that from “our” side please?

Anyone can give a speech , it doesn't equal leadership. Hillary Clinton was right about Obama. Many of us freepers are right about Bachmann too.

Everything was I, I, I, and me, me, me. No mention of her disgraced Tea Party Carcass (she abandoned) or the real Tea Party patriots who stood their ground in the face of very real leadership threats.

Can you say narcissist in training???

"Anyone can give a speech..."

Almost anyone can post without arrogant shouting too.

Also, most of us can read. Including me, believe it or not.

Read the article my morbidly font-overweight friend.

Yes, anyone CAN give a speech. Few can make one with the words of Bachmann and have it be true.

Certainly not a single one of the governors, currently unseated politicians and business folk in the race can say those words in truth.

Because they were not there.

Experience. Sometimes it's a federal thing.

"Hillary Clinton was right about Obama. Many of us freepers are right about Bachmann too."

In other words...

"Many of us freepers" are analogous to Hillary.

I get your point and I know you're not talking about me, but...

...for some reason I feel like taking a shower.
