The White House called for an end to the political gridlock blamed for the first-ever US credit rating downgrade as allies voiced confidence in the world's largest economy.
Standard & Poor's cut the US rating for the first time in history Friday, by one notch from its top-flight triple-A to AA+, saying US politicians were increasingly unable to manage the country's huge fiscal deficit and debt.
The agency added a negative outlook, warning there was a chance the rating could be downgraded further within two years if progress is not made in balancing the country's lopsided finances.
Washington's allies in Europe and Asia rallied behind the United States, warning against over-reaction to the downgrade, but China, the largest foreign holder of US Treasuries, slammed the US "addiction" to debt.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
‘scuse me, i’ll never forget it, and never stop speaking about it.
Not gonna happen.
The Left is on the ropes, and the whole world is beginning to see how utterly bankrupt and wrong their ideas really are.
Repeal ObamaCare.
Institute a flat tax.
Done.
“the political gridlock blamed for the first-ever US credit rating downgrade”
It is the fault of everything but the stupid stuff Obama and his crew did.
Well, let's see, it was Harry Reid and Zero that said any bill that doesn't raise the debt ceiling was "DOA". I call that gridlock.
Personally, I would listen to the countries banker and not casual bystanders. Some of the people saying not to worry about this downgrade have no skin in the game or are in serious trouble themselves. This downgrade is an embarrassment and a dangerous event. There is no other way to look at it.
I’m all for raising taxes. Make the 51% who pay no taxes start paying.
>>”end to gridlock”<<
I beg to differ. When a democrat or barry the zero says “end to gridlock” it means “capitulate.”
There is no more silent majority to continue hosing in order to prop up a failed welfare state. In the past, every time we came to a point where failure was obvious, the politicians silently plugged the little holes, raising taxes even though they knew the programs would eventually fail. They kept throwing our good money after bad, and we just took it.
Well, we aren’t taking it anymore. And if the WH wants the “bickering” to stop it needs to get with the program and capitulate to the orderly dismantling of the system that is broken beyond repair. If Obama cannot do that, he needs to resign.
Political gridlock was not the problem, it is the spending and refusal of the Congress and WH, in almost complete unison, to face reality.
WH calls for an end to political gridlock. In other words, GOP should tell tea party to stick it and agree with whatever the dems want.
end of gridlock = agree with us and start spending
What does it mean, “US”?
Barrack Obama is not the US!
He is like a venereal disease on the U.S.
I agree. Everyone needs to pay their fair share. Isn’t that what the RATS are calling for?
That’s what they claim. I’d call them on it.

Spot on Chaguito
The President was correct in his state of the union address when he said we face a deficit of trust. Every day he does something to make sure that We the People have no reason to trust him. Zer0 and his socialists have got some 'splaining to do come election time in 2012. Can any Rat give up the failed Keynsian economic policies and adopt zero based budgeting? No, that would be like trying to pry a fat hog away from the slop trough at feeding time. Barack 'Jackwagon' Hussein and his administration only grow the Tea Party more and more. What the Tea Party wants is what most Americans want - fiscal sanity. I don't think it is possible for this country to have a more sorry bunch of losers running the show. CUT, CAP AND BALANCE THE DAMN BUDGET. FAST TRACK THE BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT NOW!!! Reverse ObamaCare, NOW! And we've been hearing since December 2009 that Obama is going to focus like a laser on the jobs problem. So far... zip. The US gross domestic product grew at LESS THAN 1% in the first half of 2011 and job creation can't even keep up with population growth. Add to that the morons in Congress who predict an average GDP growth of 5% for the next ten years!!! BOHIC-A! (The Greatest Depression is on its way.) So for Obama these days, it's all jobs, jobs, jobs. But look at the jackwagon's track record: |
12-03-2009 - Obama puts renewed focus on job creation 01-27-2010 - Obama's State of the Union address: 'Jobs must be our No. 1 focus' 09-06-2010 - Obama touts new jobs program at Labor Day speech in Milwaukee 01-21-2011 - Obama presses for an economy in 'overdrive' 01-31-2011 - Obama develops 'Startup America' program 08-05-2011 - Obama says 'singular focus' is boosting job creation |
Yes sir, the change the people wanted is here and it's getting worse. And he says, we are not done yet! |
Let's put the 2011 federal budget into perspective: National debt.... $ 14.20 trillion Federal budget... $ 3.82 trillion US income........ $ 2.17 trillion New debt......... $ 1.65 trillion Recent budget cut $ 0.04 trillion (about 1% of the budget) Hmmmmmmm! |
Oh, so Hussein urged members of Congress to “put politics aside” and embrace a “balanced approach”.
Sounds good.
Should work.
Why didn’t he think of this before?
WH:Can’t we all just get along?
