“Nothing wakes up Obama and the Dems, either that or they quite knowingly are destroying the US, freedom and capitalism.”

Yes, this is what Obama wants to do. But it doesn’t have to be like this. We can stop him; he isn’t all powerful.

This nation is presently run by crazed socialists! Once the dollar is no longer the international reserve currency, then the brown icky-stuff hits-the-fan - assuredly.

Five hundred years ago the Ming Emperors in China and the Ottoman Empire along the Mediterranean were the greatest powers on Earth. No one living then would have expected that by the next Millennium a rustic Europe and wilderness in North America would have brought about an industrial revolution and enriched many people in the world millions of times over!

But the Muslim fools who caused 9/11 expected the U.S.A. to crumble from a terrorist attack. We did not oblige them by doing so.

Everyone seems to underrate us. Europeans never expected the U.S. to make it after the Civil War, but we fought a war with Spain, then with China, then WWI and came out stronger than ever.

During the Depression we were hit with a debilitating environmental catastrophe causing a “dust bowl” in the Midwest, and all while paying very high taxes. Then came the attack on Pearl Harbor and WWII. Still, we came out stronger.

As you probably guess, I don’t see this as necessarily a bad situation but an opportunity.

We should chuck the United Nations off our shores, for starters, and the IMF after them. Hey, they won’t need our dollars anymore, now will they?

I do not support isolationism, but I know this nation can be energy independent.

I know we can feed ourselves and export any leftovers.

I know we have technological know-how. Hell, that’s why the Chinese are always stealing ideas from us!

Are there people who will riot? Sure, but they’re probably the same folks who riot after football and basketball games. Go figure!

Right now we need some time to get ourselves reorganized along Constitutional constructs and change to a tax system, either Flat or Fair, which will generate more jobs and revenue.

We must bring our military home from policing the rest of the world. I’m sure you’ve noticed the rest of the world really doesn’t appreciate our efforts.

Screw ‘em.

We’ve had the technology to launch ourselves into the Third Industrial Revolution for thirty years or more. Then we can laugh hysterically watching other nations try to catch up from their failed experiment in the socialist utopia known as ‘Globalism’.”

Sounds great. Now how to keep the hordes of union, Rainbow Push, Acorn, welfare and even the dead from voting Rat? That isn’t going to happen soon. Try like...the next generation?

During the Depression we were hit with a debilitating environmental catastrophe causing a “dust bowl” in the Midwest, and all while paying very high taxes. Then came the attack on Pearl Harbor and WWII. Still, we came out stronger.

Yes we came out stronger! Why? Because back then we all had to scrape and work hard to make ends meet or just to avoid starvation. Family and neighbors were the source of generosity when we stumbled to our knees. Government did put some to work, but the depression did not end until WWII brought our heavy industry back to work and after then the demand for personal goods denied during the war kept the recovery going.

Compare that to now. No heavy industry (or any industry to speak of). 47% of the population pay no income taxes; food stamps, welfare payments, ADC money, unemployment insurance keep a whole subclass of the population from having to do what the population did in the depression years. The 2010 census documents this -- high percentages of low and very low income families have all the trappings of the middle class: Two cars, a home, two or more color TV's, frig, washer/dryer etc., free medical care (medicaid). These people are making (or reporting) minimum wage incomes.

Where are these "luxuries" coming from?? The answer is obvious -- their income is coming at the expense of the other 53% who DO pay income taxes. The War on Poverty "successes" of previous administrations assures that the population can live comfortably without working hard for that reward. Now why would anyone expect them to vote for anyone who does NOT promise more or continued benefits as they have been getting for the past 20 years or so? They won't because they have been living the good life on the backs of the rest of us.

Now call me cynical, but you know I'm right -- drive down a main street to a "poorer" part of town, any town. Notice the lack of pride in the homes and yards, notice the shiny new car in front, the wide-screen TV picture seen through the window, the graffiti on every wall or empty building. These people will say they are poor, can't get a job, experience racism, etc., i.e. class warfare as proclaimed every day by Democrats including the president. But the truth is its an attitude that the current generation has come to expect government goodies. If they had to face the fact that reward and self esteem come from hard work as their grandparents/great grandparents did, they would get that education, compete for that better job and understand that a reward is not a monthly government check.

I love your optimism and determination. I get very depressed reading FR sometimes. I know you are right for a part of our population, but it seems like only half the country thinks this way any more! I hope someone runs for president who thinks and believes this way and can articulate hope for this country, and really mean it (not just a politician who knows how to say what people want to hear.)

"...the socialist utopia known as ‘Globalism’

Those U.N. cockamamies can't even get the EU running without being sucked into a black hole of debt, let alone the entire globe. Are you kidding me? Do those Brussels Ba$tard$ think we're stupid enough to swallow all that garbola, when they can't even save a couple of EU members? Heck, their cities can't even support their own townships, can you all really stop and think what it would take to run the entire globe. A festering dung-hill of socialist madness, with a crippling, back-stabbing, tax-gobbling bureaucracy. The mind reels with sarcastic comment.
