PS. My deepest apologies to all for bringing politics to a thread where condolences and honor should be present.
Godspeed, soldiers...
“insurgents”??? - is that what we call the Taliban terrorists these days?
oh yeah....”terrorist” is reserved for regular american citizens.
oh wow. I hope this doesn’t put a damper on the COC’s 3rd birthday party
Looks like primarily Navy Seals.
31 killed, including 25 SEALs, in Afghanistan helicopter crash
A sad day for our country.
31 of our heroes are gone. My sincerest prayers for their loved ones and their families. This is a huge loss for our country.
At that point I think we lost the mission and have effectively lost the war.
Can anyone tell me what exactly we are fighting FOR in that country?
God rest their souls. Prayers for their families.
And now Mr. Obama....what are YOU prepared to DO???
This made me sick to my stomach—literally—when my wife told me about this at breakfast.
We live 45 minutes south of Dover AFB—this is where these heroes will be coming to the Dover mortuary. When we travel north we see the C-17s flying in and out of there, wondering what the inbounds have on board—more remains of American heroes.
But I need a basic question answered—can you fit 37 soldiers all kitted up in a Chinook? Usually when you read about these crashes, there are 14-16 killed. This almost sounds like two Chinooks were taken out.
and B. Hussein O. partied and still parties as this terrible news is announced...
Never should this man be in office.
I just wonder if all the “Secrets of the Bin Laden Raid” articles where Washington DC loose lip leakers compromised SEAL tactics and operations planning- led to the enemy’s success in targeting this helicopter?
“Special Forces” does not equal “special operations forces.”
Too bad there are almost zero reporters who get this.
For the SF families this is always very aggravating in situations like this.
And had a Hip-Hop BBQ!
And which relative of one of those men leaked the details of this attack?
It was an RPG.
Our aircraft have a much better chance against an uber-sophisticated SAM.
Why are our soldiers still dying in that God-forsaken hell-hole? Bring them home NOW!!!
That is due to the fact that helicopters hover or are very slow compared to a fixed wing and the fact that the mark one eyeball set is a pretty good aiming device for close targets.
That said, it's apparent that tactics must change and/or a different mix of forces must be used.
A question I choose not to consider, for the answer may be too painful.
