Donald Trump Rips President Obama, Debt Deal (article and video)
FoxNews ^ | Aug 3, 2011 | Donald Trump and Greta VanSusteren

Posted on 08/04/2011 1:15:42 PM PDT by Clairity

VAN SUSTEREN: Donald, the debt ceiling -- many Americans have heard back and forth between the two political parties that if it hadn't gotten raised, there'd be something catastrophic. Would it have been catastrophic to the American people?

TRUMP: I don't think so. I think the Republicans tried hard, but they didn't make a good deal. They did very little cutting, but the worst thing of all -- and they could have had, and it was the one thing Obama wanted -- he wanted to bring it past the election because if they had this come due again before the election, he could not have been re-elected. And why they agreed to that, I have no idea.

But in addition to that, very little cutting. And of course, they don't even talk about the Bush tax cuts because in '13, they expire, so taxes are going to go through the roof.

Who cares what this old fart says?
What is he in charge of? Why does Fox News continue to ask him what he thinks?

Maybe cuz he loves the country, he hates commies, and he is right about 90% of the time. In this interview he was going crazy over the fact that basically the Republicans gave Obama the only thing he wanted out of this negotiation, a chance to not revisit it during the campaign.

Trump said if the issue came up again next summer Obama would ahve lost to anyone and they gave it away. I think he was right.

Yeah, thanks Donald...but why didn't you and all the other Monday morning quarterbacks talk like this WHILE THEY WERE "DEBATING" THIS IDIOCY? Instead you all had ants in your pants to pass SOMETHING, and were content to let the Tea Party take all the heat.

Doensn't matter, it's all falling apart now. Good...maybe people will finally wake the hell up.

So that stupid birth certificate thing he was doing last spring was in the 10% of times he is wrong?

I agree. He had his 15 minutes a few months ago, apologized for bringing the matter up, said he’s glad he was able to help prove Obama is eligible to be president and announced he was not going to run himself. End of story. I had hoped.

Looks like you actually read the article and watched the video, to find out what he said — as opposed to all the others who didn’t bother, and are engaging in uninformed knee-jerk reactions.

“...the Republicans gave Obama the only thing he wanted out of this negotiation, a chance to NOT revisit it during the campaign”

That is the unavoidable and astonishing fact of the entire painful and embarrassing exercise!

It is inconceivable to me how this was even considered. I can't believe that Conservative Americans are so maladroit at basic horse-trading that they could permit themselves to be part of a deal so abysmally inconistent with their own best interests and stated objectives.

You might consider - that possibly they met their objectives.

This was obvious to anyone - the public wants less spending - so the REPs took it off the table till after the election.

They are Washington. They didn’t meet the electorates objectives.

Watch it and tell me who is making more sense than The Donald.

Dick Morris, in his speech at the Western Conservative Convention, PRIOR to the agreement to the deal was advising conservatives in Congress to only agree to a small temporary rise in the debt limit, that will give them time to negotiate and under NO circumstances should they agree to extention to 2013.

But Republicans didn’t listen.

Trump may have privately advised them as well, considering how strongly he felt about it.

No wonder the Republican party is called “the stupid party”, they fall for the Dem con job every time.

I love Donald Trump. When he speaks, he cuts through all the media crud and they simply HAVE to report it. Obama hears him loud and clear in a way that bypasses the faux news he usually gets, that is already sanitized.

Trump is the king of the Obvious.

In a world full of unreason and falsehood there is a certain genius to speaking the obvious truth.
