LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Raechel Colleen Schultz and her sister, Stephanie Marie Schultz, are looking for recognition by the government.
The two women, who live in rural Lily, Ky., were born at home. They were home-schooled and their parents never sought birth certificates, vaccination records or Social Security numbers for them.
Now, 29-year-old Raechel and 23-year-old Stephanie have sued the Social Security Administration in an effort to get Social Security numbers and cards, which will allow them to work legally. The suit, filed July 29 in U.S. District Court in London, Ky., is the latest legal battle for the women as they attempt to obtain legal recognition of their existence.

I’m sure there a mexican somewhere near where they live who could tell them how to get one without all the hassle of having to sue...
29 years old and never paid federal taxes?
All they have to do is go to the state where Obama got his SS number. Evidently it’s pretty easy and nobody will question it.
I’m surprised that there is a lawsuit. They have to sue to get a social security number? Can’t you just apply for one if you didn’t get it at birth? Isn’t there a procedure to do this? I can’t believe they have to file a lawsuit to do this.
They should just shut up.
All they need is proof of their parents existance and a few witnesses. Old records are full of these events.
They haven’t worked a day in their adult lives? Why the sudden need for a SS#, seems weird.
Borrow one of Obamas. He’s got several.
And to think a whole bunch of people TRYING to go galt.
29 and no SS#, talk about living off the grid. wow.
If they apply for SS like every one else, then there wouldn’t be a story, would there?
If they are rural home-schooled country girls - chances are they worked their asses off on the Farm - just for themselves and their family rather than from an employer who files a W-2.
Many people would love to be in their position.
Many people would love to be in their position.
The thing bothers me about this story is that -
all of a sudden they find themselves wanting to contribute to the gubmint? Or they want their ‘fair share’ even though they haven’t contributed to the pile?
they’ve never travelled? voted? or a simple question of how they drive around?
People are sue crazy.
My father who lived to be 95 never had a birth certificate until he was ready to apply for SS. He was born at home also. What he had to do was get a relative to swear to the facts of his birth and then he was issued one, and got his SS also.
” Cant you just apply for one if you didnt get it at birth?”
I would think so. My sisters and I got ours in the 60’s, long after our births
What part of SS was his?
