The West Texas jury deciding the fate of polygamy cult leader Warren Jeffs listened through headphones to 21 minutes of heavy breathing yesterday. Some in the room wept. Others held their hands over their mouths. The X-rated recording, a cornerstone of the states child-sex-assault case, allegedly chronicled Jeffs encounter with a 12-year-old girl, an episode that ended with the self-proclaimed prophet declaring, In Jesus Christ, amen.
The jurors heard an almost inaudible voice. Amen, echoed the child.
It got worse. According to prosecutors, Jeffs and his new celestial wife were not alone. A dozen of his most trusted men were witnesses to the sealing. It was a family affair: At least one of Jeffs other wives, his purported favorite, Naomi, was also in the room. What are you feeling? Jeffs asked the girl. And in a moment that froze everyone in the courtroom, she answered meekly, Very well, thank you.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all, Binger.
If they put him in the general population he wouldn’t last a month. That’s why he’ll spend the rest of his life in solitary confinement pleasing himself.
A story on the Texas Rangers. A friend of mine said back in the sixties he came up on this scene where cops had this house surrounded. A suspected murderer had broken out of jail and they had him trapped under the house. A Texas Ranger drove up in a pickup pulling a horse trailer, got out and asked “What’s goin’ on?”
A cop told him they had this guy trapped under the house and couldn’t get him to come out. The Ranger went to his pickup truck, got a shotgun, walked over to the house, held the gun under the edge and blam! He stood up and said “Now go get him.” Then he got in his truck and drove off.
I love that gal! She’s tough and not afraid!
Ironic, since I was just going to comment on how refreshing it was not to have men on FR defending this practice. It’s especially offensive when they use the Bible to justify it.
I’m just now checking in on the case—what good news that they came back quickly and with the right verdict. I halfway dread what’s yet to come out, but I have to say that I’m glad that this country, and the world really, is finally getting to hear what horror-farms these places are. And without Oprah sugar-coating everything with all her blather about home made bread, apple cheeks, and sweet looking people yada yada yada.
I heard that too—is Utah really THAT stupid?
I assume you’re a friend. Did you know about the Utah AG?
She’s got guts. I still pray for her salvation though.
Not sure Utah is that stupid. But Utah IS thae mormon.
It is a cult - plain and simple - any “church” organization that shuns those who don’t obey without question is a cult.
I have been here for years and years and what I stand for is very clear! Your smear is not only misplaced but reprehensible.
Jeffs clearly forced himself upon these barely-pubescent girls even if they could have been asked what they wanted and their responses taken as adults. This is outside the pale to any civilized society from Moses till now. It pains me when I say “orange” and I am taken for “unripe lemon.” I hope you don’t feel the need to continue your slanderous buffalo.
More of an acquaintance than friend. We have several mutual friends though.
Hear what about the Utah AG?
Any male of the species who in any way defends the sexual exploitation of young girls in any way, shape, or form is not a man.
Yep.
It is a cult - plain and simple - any church organization that shuns those who dont obey without question is a cult.

Bingo. Which is why I get frustrated at those who claim the mainstream LDS isn’t a cult.
Everything that has been proven in this case (including sex in the temple) has been documented regarding the early days of the mainstream LDS (the temple was Kirtland, OH) and Joseph Smith.
Oh that will be fun. :D
Now that is funny!
