Full title: Barack Obama feasts while Rome burns. Do Americas ruling liberal elites think they are the new emperors?

Oh for Pete's sake. This IS the Present being circumspect. This isn't a half billion dollar vacation to India, you know. Heck, the whole thing shouldn't cost more than a hundred million.
Yep, quite a milestone. Huh, must be time for Obama to plan his family's summer vacation, then the fall recess, and of course, the Christmas holidays and just a quick little trip for labor day and...

Brilliant comments under the article!
Obama and his adherents have more in common with the typical banana republic junta members or the chieftains of some backwards African country taking the money from minerals or humanitarian aide for their own parties and mansions. Or like the elite Party members or dictators in failed socialist countries of the past, or N.Korea today. Except that they are far more demeaning of their country (usually a leader claims to like his country and people- even while exploiting them.) The Obamas seem from the first day of the campaign to have nothing but contempt for a large part of America and indeed the US itself.
In the late Ming dynasty cultural "elite" was notoriously corrupt. Most were barely literate and had no real ability to actually understand or interpret the great classical texts which scholars were expected to know in and out, and from memory. They were generally arrogant and usually felt entitled, though their actual output, if any, was of very, very low quality. There were a number of more competent, qualified scholars, but they often gave up because sleaze was so deeply rooted in elite circles and the government that they could not consciously have anything to do with it. Things are much the same today with Obama and his liberal colleagues. They're poorly educated and usually unburdened by common sense, though they claim that a university degree and the love of hearing their own voices passes are being erudite. Nor do they especially wish to keep up or work on the ills of the country, they're so convinced of their own superiority that they can't fathom that the rest of the world does not stand in awe of their brilliance.
Obama, like all Liberal-elites, is actually tone deaf to the common person. Look at the guy. A privileged upbringing, doors opened to the best schools because of affirmative action allocations, a free pass academically because of affirmative action, never had a real job that didn't involve selling/arranging favors for money, short stints doing nothing in the Illinois State Senate and 145 days in the US Senate and then an MSM steamrolled election over an absolutely inept John McCain. Elevated to the White House with a Nobel Prize for nothing under his arm, he has proven himself to be lazy, ineffectual, duplicitous, pathologically narcissistic, petulant, inarticulate and apparently drug addled. He has demonstrated no leadership, love of America, respect for his office or understanding of the American people. He has fallen flat on his face in international relations and commands no respect from our allies or fear from our enemies. Now, he actually smells like a loser and his poll numbers are tanking with all but his racist, black base. The sooner he is gone, the sooner the US and the world starts getting better. All he has done is constipate the whole system and we need the laxative of the 2012 elections to rid ourselves of this turd of a president.

In third-world dictatorships they have huge celebrations on The Leaders birthday.

Well I DEFINITELY think that he deserves to celebrate the 50th.....however not that much. For example, my 30th birthday party was at the Olive Garden with 20 family members. My 40th was a rather larger affair at a home of a friend with a TON of food (seriously) and 25 close friends and family. I have not hit 50 yet. So if he wanted to have a nice picnic on the White House grounds with 30 or 40 closet friends, I would not begrudge him of that. But to have this huge event is just not right especially right now.
To: Nachum
But does he need to do it in such an extravagant and insensitive style at a time of tremendous economic turmoil when tens of millions of Americans are hurting financially and nearly one in ten are out of work? LOL, dude, that's the POINT of doing it - to dance on your writhing victims!
200 million dead bodies were danced on by the Left in the 20th century, and people are still asking such juvenile questions?

This is no time for grand celebrations Mr. President, but should be a moment for pause and reflection, as the worlds only superpower heads towards the economic abyss under his leadership. Perhaps that's where he wants us to go. Into the abyss.
Making it a cause for his celebration...

How in sam hell did our government get like this?
These are elected servants of the people, not royalty.
All of’em walk around like a bunch of elitist hob knobs thumbing their noses at the peasant masses.
Part of the blame can go to those who freakin idolize these candidates to some sort of superstar status through the election and into their prospective offices.
These two damn perverts, Wu and Weiner get nailed for acting like they have, then leave office with guaranteed HUGE sums in the way of perks and benefits for life.
How has this happened?

Personally I don't begrudge any rich and powerful man from enjoying life.
And, I think the article is petty as I think everyone who thinks this is a big deal is petty.
Don't get me wrong, I hate that commie bastard. But I don't think fretting over the fact he is having a "everybody love me" event shows anything other than the fact that politicians are hedonistic narcissists.
Duh.
So is every other rich man in the world.
