Academy award-winning actor Matt Damon said he is "so disgusted" with what's happening in Washington over the debt limit, claiming that the Tea Party is "willing to drive it all off a cliff" and adding that it's "criminal" the wealthy are not paying higher taxes.
"I'm so disgusted man. I mean, no, I don't know what you do in the face of that kind of intransigence. You know, so my heart does go out to the President. He is dealing with a lot," Damon said in an exclusive interview at the "Save Our Schools March" in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
When asked if he agrees with President Obama's call for a "balanced approach" as part of a deal to raise the debt limit, Damon said, "Yes, the wealthy are paying less than they've paid in any time else, certainly in my lifetime."
He continued, "It's criminal that like, you know, so little is asked of people who are getting so much, I mean, I don't mind paying more. I really don't mind paying more taxes. I'd rather pay for taxes than cut like 'Reading is Fundamental' or 'Head Start' or some of these programs that are really helping kids. I mean, why not? This is the greatest country in the world. Is it that much worse if you pay 6 percent more in taxes? Give me a break. You know, look at what you get for it. You get to be American."
Damon did not say the highest percentage he would be willing to pay in taxes but argued for tax reform.
"I mean, why not raise it per million bucks? Right? And then cap it somewhere," he said.
Damon also said those making over $250,000 per year are not job creators.
"Nobody went and started a business with their Bush tax cut. You know, I don't know who would believe something that just defies common sense so no, that's no. I was against those tax cuts. I thought they were ridiculous. So little is asked of the upper class anyway, you know. I mean, what percent of them or their kids are fighting in any of these wars?" he said.
Damon also called the Tea Party "completely intransigent" in terms of the debt ceiling debate.
"It's true. They are absolutely willing to drive it all off a cliff. They mean what they say, that's for sure," he said.
F.A.G = Film Actors Guild
Haven't seen him in much else. I caught one of the "Bourne" movies in the theater and it gave me a headache.
Matt Damon really, really wishes that he could be an A-List actor, but the fact of the matter is, he's just not talented enough to carry a movie by himself.
Someone in the news did research this. I guess he is a donor for certain charities. Good for him. It is HIS choice of charity and the amount HE wants to contribute.
HERE’S the problem:
Charity donations are just THAT...voluntary gifts to a charity of YOUR CHOICE!!! We control how much we give. We know where it goes and how it is used. ALL Americans do THIS routinely and always HAVE.
A L W A Y S!!
We resent this spoiled, overpaid, ignorant Hollywood puppy calling us greedy and uncaring.
Liberals demand money (MORE MONEY ALL THE TIME) in addition to the voluntary personal and private donations made by Americans in their usual charity donations. Liberals call these ever increasing taxes equitable, compassionate and necessary measures to help the less fortunate. The Liberals take this from us and ‘administer’ the benefits to groups and individuals OF THEIR CHOICE AT THEIR OWN DISCRETION.
Its the double whammy for American workers.
We are coerced, under pain of litigation, by the Fed. to pay for the groups THEY choose, at a level THEY determine is needed-with no proper or demonstrated accountability for money spent
We are constantly demonized and insulted if we expect of ask for accountability or challenge the gov. demand for ever more money
At what point do American workers get to keep what they earn?
I liked him in Team America.
Matt(el) Damon has a string in his back. Pull it and he says something stupid.
And he, like so many has-beens, never-weres and perennial wannabes, resorts to inane political commentary to buy himself some attention.
Another great example of our public education system!
"The Departed" was a pretty good flick, too. Again - he was just a part of the ensemble, though.
Mrs WBill dragged me to see "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (a Matt Damon Vehicle) about a hundred years ago. I still remember it, only because of how excruciating it was to watch.
Shut up Matt. We know you’re a Progressive (albeit a highly ignorant one) and enjoy the demise of a nation; so, shut up and cash your checks, make your movies and if we, perchance, see one we’ll know you’re a traitorous rat.
He’s got money. Doesn’t he know we can be led but not pushed?
Lead the way, oh great Matt Damon. Show us by example how you finance this regime with your fortunes. Lead us by example; don’t pull a U2. The IRS will not stop you from sending more taxes than you’re assessed, Mr. Damon; tell them to take everything you have over $250,000 and really get the ball rolling in Hollywood.
Conservatives make a safe target. They likely won't see his movies anyway, and it doesn't lose him any acting gigs.
I don’t know if he’s a fag, but he’s no doubt a queer. He played the Talented Mr. Ripley most professionally, which shouldn’t be surprising knowing that he is, indeed, a fag.

Does Damon pay much in taxes? Or, has he sheltered most of his income?
Hey Damon! Are you poor?
Exactly right...
We got into it with a liberal Sat. night at a family get-together. It was like talking to Pelosi or Reid.
Too many liberals out there, and I know a bunch of them.
