I am coming up with a new strategy. I am thinking of adding a strap-on to my race cars like the Hillary politically correct (and thus protected) transgender strsp on. Only, my strap on will be rocket motors. I have experience with these from the early 1980’s Pershing II missile program that I worked on.

This missile was very fast! It had a First stage, Second stage and Reentry Vehicle that had a small nuclear warhead and at the tip was a radome with terminal imaging radar that compared the view with a target image map so course corrections could be made by RV fins. The public statement was that it could correct course to fly through the targeted window in the Kremlin from max range of 1,500 miles. Tests were done over the Atlantic for range and at White Sands, NM for radar targeting.

The rocket motors were HOT. The rocket was gone in a flash, unlike the Space Shuttle, Titans, or Saturn V’s I have seen. The first stage was more mild to prevent burning the radome off from air friction. The second stage was hot and was outside most of the atmosphere so no radome friction burning problem. I saw several tests and timed a 1,500 mile test flight from Cape Canaveral on my watch. I don’t know the trajectory distance, but the over-the-ground average speed was around 3 miles per second. I will try to post launch photos tomorrow. Tubebender get off yer throne, nukes are incoming!

I think I should only strap on 1st stage engines to my team’s cars. No sense burning off the front bumper with air friction. As I recall the 1st stage was about 8,000 pounds so some suspension work will be in order. I may add the terminal imaging radar with the finish line as the target since the drivers will be unconscious from G-forces. Did I miss anything? Oh, paarachute!

All of those who attended promised to bring at least five more with them next year. I think that will be easy.

Sounds like a plan! Lets start thinking about a firm date and set it on the calendar. Our only conflict down here is the last weekend in August. I set a tentative date of July 21, 2012.

the 24th is on a Tues. next year, so the highways won’t be as busy as this year was, but if I had my druthers, I’d go for the 14th or the 28th and stay away from the 24th holiday traffic.

But I’ll get there regardless...

Ooooh!

Sounds like something the Green River Launch Complex may have had a hand in!

I' ve spend many an hour in the rugged area south of MOAB searching for off course rocket debris.

That explains why modern day people allow their pets to get on the bed with them.

There's not much to find since SOMEONE managed to glomm onto a LOT of them and build a junk art meteor that is flying to earth 15 miles south of moab. It is hard to discern, just under the whit "N" on the rockface; seen in this GoogleEarth street view photo.

I have been in 3rd world countries and actually seen them bring the chickens in the house at night(to keep them from being stolen). You just know them chickens were sleeping with the kids.
