White House communications staffers are investigating using social media sites beyond Facebook and Twitter to broaden the Obama administration's public engagement and, perhaps, to communicate in different ways, a White House aide said Tuesday.
That investigation is driven partly by a belief that social media changes so rapidly the government must be willing to experiment with new platforms, and because outside advisers to the administration already are using newer platforms, White House New Media Director Macon Phillips said.
Former America Online Chief Executive Officer Steve Case, who serves on President Obama's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, for example, uses Quora.com, an online question-and-answer site, Phillips said.
Phillips was speaking at a panel discussion on social media and civic participation hosted by the Brookings Institution think tank.
As Twitter grows and develops, White House staff has noted that users tend to favor Tweets from individuals over institutions, Phillips said, even when an individual is Tweeting in his or her role as an agency or corporate official.

If they pay attention, Perhaps they may learn something.
But, we certainly live in a world where privacy is hard to come by.
AOL?
LOL Hey they could sell CD Coasters with Obummers face on it.
I have been in and out of the loop what happened yesterday with Obama and twitter?
Ha.
Obama spammed twitter to push for his plan. Then they lost 36,000 people from their account. :)
Remember, they have computer programs that mimic people so it can look like there’s a huge consensus of opinion when in reality it’s five or six programmers with marching orders. Totally disgusting.. but typical of the dims. And the idiots enthusiastically tweeting probably don’t mind being lied to and play right along.
Wow that is desperate. Remember Soro’s or some imbecile calling for some new thing to dismantle ‘bad Obama news’?
A new fightthesmears? How about if they are doing a good job they don’t need to fight anything? I witnessed Obama’s FB page during one of his many speeches and people were BLUNT.There is nothing else he can use to spread his propaganda accept maybe more republicans.
Sad...
Maybe he can get some of “Holder’s Consultants” to show him how to organize flash mobs.
What are we paying this president for? At least he isn’t surfing for porn all day...although there’s no way of proving that.
The younger folks are trying to get jobs and finding that hope and change isn’t worth s***.
Isn’t it supposed to be illegal to make the government into part of a political campaign?
