Yep! Not just Yanks, but also a large influx of “Amish” folk on the dole. There is also a new city, Carolina Forest, just West of here that did not exist 25 years ago when I left. In addition, thousands of apartments have been built in hundreds of complexes. Since there are very few jobs in this area except seasonal, I suspect that the city and county governments get a pretty hefty chunk of money from Washington for the Welfare roll.
We also see a lot of the mainstream “Progressive” churches with the majority of the members supporting the current administration, so all of the wonderful references to “meddling” or “busybodies” would be lost on them.

Hey, EVERYTHING is not some conspiracy by tyrants. There is a growing need to self examine the tinfoilhatism!
When people read a story like this they envision cops kicking down the lemonade stand and screaming at the 4 year old. In actuality it was probably a cop going up to the dad, apologizing profusely, and being embarrassed that he had to ask the kid to stop selling. If it was me, I would have purchased the remaining inventory and then sent her on her way. But I'm just another jack-booted thug.
Guess I’ll be in the minority here. Guy is obviously trying to cash in on the event (bike ride). Fine. If vendors are required to get a permit, that should apply to all. Dad is obviously hiding behind a kid too young to have any real interest in order to make a buck. If the food truck and guy with the cart full of ballons, glowsticks and other trinkets need a permit, Dad should get one too.
It’s not one screw up. It’s one a day, that we hear about, and it’s a growing attitude by authorities that we are subjects, not citizens.
Can’t the father just get a permit. I mean they are 50 bucks and would allow the daughter to have fun selling her lemonade. I believe they last for an entire year.
