Police shut down 4 year old girl's lemonade stand

CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Police closed down a lemonade stand in Coralville last week, telling its 4-year-old operator and her dad that she didn't have a permit.

An officer told Abigail Krutsinger's father Friday that she couldn't run the stand as RAGBRAI bicyclers poured into Coralville.

A city ordinance says food vendors must apply for a permit and get a health inspection.

Abigail's dad, Dustin Krutsinger, said the ordinance and its enforcers are going too far if they force a 4-year-old to abandon her lemonade stand.

Is there any doubt that we live in a fascist police state? Liberals want to regulate and control every aspect of our lives, including a 4 year old girl's lemonade stand! Jefferson and Adams are rolling in their graves. The Republic they gave us is no more. We live with the boot of government thugs on our throats. They steal our money. They steal our freedom. Its time to show the tyrants that the people will be oppressed no longer.

This is ridiculous, obviously. However, this is man bites dog. That is why there is a story written about it. There are thousands upon thousands of lemonade stands that go unmolested by police every weekend all over this country.

Public employees are getting desperate ... Our local police are ticketing people for riding bicycles on sidewalks.

Using bike lanes is one hell of a lot more dangerous than riding on almost always empty sidewalks.

As they destroy the country one thing at a time. When will TAR and FEATHERS be back in fashion for bureaucrats?

I see no light at the end of the tunnel: Witness our stunning victory at the ballot box last November and the resulting silencing and demonizing of every last one of them.

We have cops stopping 4-year-olds, 1 gallon per flush, highly dangerous “light bulbs”, privacy, penumbra, abortion, seat belts, children and infant car seats, air bags, etc. . . . none of which are anywhere to be found in our Constitution, and I see NOT LIGHT AT THE END OF THIS TUNNEL.

We just got sold out immensely and deliberately by our incompetent and RINO SOH Boner, and have a non-citizen living in our White House.

My heart goes out to this little girl. She’s just living in the wrong country.

Another nail in the coffin of capitalism. If the proceeds went to save the whales, the booth would have been on the front page of the paper.

No, but they did shoot a dog here in Omaha yesterday.

Wondering if the “food stand” laws apply to lemonade stands if no food is being sold. What if she would have tried to give away (not sell) the lemonade, but accept donations?

In this era of tight budgets, if the police have nothing better to do than to close a four year old's lemonade stand, then I think they should be a target of immediate budget cuts.

This is what I wonder?: Let’s say for argument’s sake that the little FOUR year old opened a lemonade stand and made a sign stating: ALL FUNDS GO TO THE POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION (or something along those lines), do you think the cops would have shut it down? I’m not saying a child should lie to open a stand. I am simply asking if the police would shut it down if they thought it was benefitting THEM vs paying for a child’s bike, funding a homeless shelter, buying a hula hoop.. whatever.

When the Register’s Annual Great Beer Run Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) comes to a town or though a town, it’s almost dictatorial what they do in the way of flat out dictating that anyone that wants to sell anything on the route has to have a permit/license from them. And the towns bend over and allow it, because there is a tremendous amount of money spent on the way.
