AN ACT
To make a technical amendment to the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. TECHNICAL AMENDMENT TO EDUCATION SCIENCES REFORM ACT OF 2002.
Section 174(e)(1)(A) of the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002 (20 U.S.C. 9564(e)(1)(A)) is amended by inserting `, subject to 1 extension of not more than 12 months, at the Secretary's discretion, for any contract in effect on, or entered into after, January 1, 2011' after `period'.
Pardon my ignorance, but don’t sepnding bills have to originate in the House or are amendments exempt?
Heres a list of the critters we must get rid of:
http://www.gop.gov/votes/112/1/690
Health and Human Services $270 $299 $329 $361 $395 $414 $434 $454 $475 $496 So much for repealing Obamacare......”
That was my take, too. This was funding for DeathCare.
What the he11 happened? A week ago we were just 4 votes away from passing CC&B and giving the Obama “you veto it, you own the results”; all the Republicans had to do was say “there’s the bill on the Senate table, you either pass it or we shut things down, either result is fine by us.” Today we hand him everything he wants. WTF?
I’m sure it all fits in with the rules, however convoluted.
This way is bizarre, I’ll admit.
I just heard Lamar Alexander expelling how this has changed Washington’s usual spending and is now cutting instead.
I must be in the Twilight Zone.
For the Party? What Party?
The Tea Party? OK, they (who voted against this monstrosity) held their ground and gave a laudable effort, going so far as to get CC&B on the Senate table. Pretty good for a new group in the minority. My rep Tom Graves (GA) did a fine job.
The Republican Party? Democrats Lite? The only reason I won’t go switch my affiliation to “Independent” today is to have Primary access as a path to Tea Party takeover.
Twenty six trillion dollars in new spending - outpacing revenue increases of course - before my daughter hits her teens...
Has the bill (amended) actually passed the Senate yet?
It’s called spineless capitulation in the face of distress.
The Establishment Repubs are no different than the Establishment Dems. They both want the same thing. Power and money to promulgate that power. They don’t care about the future. They will be long dead and gone when the results of their selfishness will finally come to fruition. The people of this country are powerless to stop this insanity. The ballot box is insufficient protection against tyranny any longer......................
Tempted to page Jack Black.
Well, it passed.
Called Sen. Isakson. Phone jockey was surprised to hear the “$26T new spending” line.
I’ll send an email asking for real clarification on this.
Maybe I misunderstood something, but that bill’s wording sure looks like $26T total.
