Gabrielle Giffords Will Run for Re-Election

Following her emotional return to the House of Representatives last night to vote in support of the debt deal, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords announced on The Early Show this morning that she will run for re-election in Arizona. The show promptly tweeted the news.

Explaining her vote last night, Giffords said in a statement "I had to be here for this vote. I could not take the chance that my absence could crash our economy."

Yeah, ok, Gaby. We're all glad you're having an stupendously amazing recovery (God knows we've heard THAT ad nauseum), but you're one vote of 435. Let's refrain from taking ourselves too seriously here, shall we?

“Ok, Gabby just push this button right here.”

” Thaaaats the girl,”

“Did I do good?”

“Yes, sweetie you did a real good thing”

“Can I do it again?. I like doing good things, good things are fun”

A politician with significant brain damage helps to set the course of my life, the lives of 320 million people, and the lives of unborn generations. Sick.

I would not be surprise to see the democrats hall in the corpse of T. Kennedy for a vote in the Senate.

Political theater be damned.

Her appearance on the clip I saw showed a very disabled sadly ill woman. Her physical gestures showed poor proprioceptive control. I can't imagine the status of her cognitive abilities.

It appeared to me she was unable to move her right arm. Can anyone confirm that?

I wonder what her husband, the ex-astronaut, has to say about her running for re-election. I only know that I'd be more concerned about my wife's recovery than her running for office.

Because of the presence of the reprehensible Debbie Wasserdork Schmuck, the south Florida media treated GG’s vote yesterday like it was some sort of Messianic moment. Seriously, I saw more crap about the Democrats’ exploitation of that poor woman than of the actual VOTE itself.

And no one has DARED to ask the question if she even has the slightest bit of understanding of this issue. Sorry, I just do not buy it. She is indeed a brave soul for continuing on—and I salute her, but can she govern after being shot in the head? Serious questions would be asked if I were one of her constituents.

Remember how Dick Cheney’s fitness to serve was called into question by the press because of his heart issues? GG was shot in the BRAIN, and the media won’t question her fitness.

If a dead politician can win re-election, so can a severely brain damaged politician

I noticed no one interviewed Giffords. All I saw was her arms flailing and head jerking in the midst of her protective escort

Is this what Arizona wants as its political rep? Someone who is escorted to sessions only when it is time to be shown what button to push?

I sure enjoyed watching Pelosi being upstaged by some insignificant liberal who introduced Giffords and praised her presence yada yada. Then Pelosi basically said the same thing, only in double voice to drag it on longer.

I heard that Gifford’s husband, the astronaut, may run for her position.

“...more coherent and lucid than Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters.”

If Cynthia McKinney was a sitting Congressperson, there is absolutely no lower limit on intelligence or sanity.

She is House Rep for life. Sympathy vote trumps anything she will do or not do.

With any luck, she’ll be the one to unseat McLame in 2016

she will be asked legitimate but thoughtful questions to which she will have to respond.

I am not heartless, but she will not be asked any questions that require thought. No liberal democrat is ever asked these kinds of questions. Only conservatives, especially Republican women. I make reference to the squalid way Ingraham interviewed Bachmann.

You must live in the Tucson part of her district.

Where I live in her district (Cochise County), it is conservative.

I’m sorry she was injured, but she needs to go home and learn a new trade commensurate with her abilities.

And her “crossing the aisle” is just so much BS, she was Pelosi’s lap girl and has always been one of those vote-late-to-see-how-it’s-going-so-I-can-vote-no-for-political-cover people, probably because of Cochise County.

I doubt you’ll see any long stump speeches but lots of ‘released’ statements. Her brain is a tangled web of scattered neurons and anyone who thinks she’ll be back to normal is fooling themselves. Reading between the lines of published reports on her progress, if normal is a 10, she might eventually reach a 6.

All an oponent would have to do is just be on the ballot.
People may feel sorry for her, but most aren’t dumb
enough to actually vote for her in that condition.

I don’t say this with disrespect for Giffords. I say it because it reveals the Democrats for who they are.

Before Giffords injury she was mediocre to the party. Subsequent to her injury, she is perfect.

Giffords can now say anything she likes, and is inoculated against any disagreement. If you disagree with her, you’re an evil person. “Look what she went through. How can you be mean to her?”

This is how the Democrats operate.

Giffords, I am so glad to see you recovering. When you come back to Congress, expect to be treated with respect, but like everyone else there, unless they’re a member of the Tea Party.

She voted against Pelosi for Minority Leader so I don’t believe your statement one bit. She is more moderate than most of those Democrats.

You are correct, all I could find about the so called announcement was a twitty bird thing, I would bet you a hundred bucks, you could reach the woman a Droid and she would stand there holding it wondering what it was.
